Re: If Mike D'Antoni is such an offensive genius....

You know it sounds a bit crazy, but I'd probably give D'antoni the axe and go back to Bernie if I was not going to PJax (who might not even want the job any more). Bickerstaff is not a great coach, but it seems that he always gets his teams to play hard and that is the thing that the Lakers need.

Re: If Mike D'Antoni is such an offensive genius....

he's the only one so far with a winning record

I think they need to move Pau's dime for a couple nickles (preferably wing players who are younger, can hit treys and play some D)

I think Pau needs to be moved. I don't think Pringles is going to change and I don't think they fire him yet, so Pau is the one who has to go. I would be very curious to see what kind of offers would be there for Pau.

But at what cost here? Yea sure the Lakers are doing great when it comes to scoring, but when it comes to being able to get back on defense properly, stopping fast breaks, or god forbid according to some people on this site having players like Pau Gasol be effective, his system creates big problems for those kinds of things. They don't need to run this system. The Lakers have more than enough offensive weapons to be able to get good amount of points with just a regular offensive playset alone. They need to be ready, and be able, to play defense when they miss a shot or when the ball is stolen, and they never are. It's pathetic to watch. There's so many things wrong with D'Antoni when it comes to defense but I'm gonna go into detail because it would be so long that I guarantee no one here would read it (hence why my last rant was just about the problems with the offense).

Ill say it again, Pringles has nothing to do with Pau flailing like a fish in the paint and refusing to attempt any one-on-one moves.

Unfortunately, Dwight is the only one that is coaching defense on that team. The problem is, nobody else really cares about defense right now.

Furthermore, how many of them actually respect Dwight? Just asking.

Headband isn't even playing good defense. He commits stupid fouls. I saw him intentionally foul a guy with his team down 2 and 30+ seconds on the game clock. He's retarded.

His system turned guys like Boris Diaw into a near All Star player.

But he does have something to do with Pau constantly camping out in the perimeter like a idiot.

No, it didn't. What turned him into a near all star player was the increased playing time he got as a result of Amare being injured, and having Steve Nash on the team sure helped an awful lot (although to be fair Boris did have an impressive assist average in his first year in Phoenix).

Why would anyone respect Dwight at this point?

**** that. Dwights D hasn't been impressive at all. For every impressive block or altered shot, there's 3 plays where he jogs back on defense, or just sits the play out.

He has been at the heart of the Lakers defensive woes. Hell, having Bynum from last year in there, or letting Pau be the anchor at this point would be a better option.

Dwight is getting fake D credit this year from reputation and block/rebound numbers. He hasn't been impressive one bit.

Re: If Mike D'Antoni is such an offensive genius....

Im not saying Dwight has been good at all.

I said he is the only one COACHING anyone on defense. You can see him explaining the rotations to everyone else, but that doesnt change the fact that the Lakers are terrible on D.

Im saying hes doing more defensive coaching than D'Antoni is, or anyone else from the looks of it.
