I thought it was normal for teams to send video of calls they objected to after a game. I'm guessing Ferry did it in a militant way or something.

I'm guessing that with a marquee game coming up Stu called Rondo's agent and said, "Look, can you just have him call us and say it was an accident and that he's sorry?" and Ragin' Rondo, upon getting the call, replied, "Yo, Stu can go **** himself with a firehose."

It doesn't make sense to me that a GM gets fined for pointing out how a player got a bad call.

Oh, the league is afraid of getting flooded with videos?

Ferry got fined because he went straight to the refs after the game, not because he submitted the video. The league has rules against approaching the officials after a game. Ferry should have just gone through the proper channels to submit the video and he would have been fine.

I understand why that rule is in place, but sometimes following the letter of the law can get a bit extreme.

What did Ferry think that going to the refs' locker room after the game was going to accomplish that going to the league properly wouldn't? The rule's there so that the refs don't have the deal with players/coaches/executives waiting for them after games to complain or start an altercation. The Hawks didn't get docked a draft pick or anything, Ferry got fined for being a hothead and breaking a rule in place for just that sort of thing.

Agreed, but the refs can't go back in time and eject him, and they aren't the guys who suspend players after the fact. Again, there's nothing that could actually be accomplished by following the refs into the tunnel. He went there to bitch about what he perceived to be a bad call, which is exactly what the league looks to prevent with the rule in question. It's not following the letter of the law, it's following the intent.
