Re: WHY? ESPN's Lakers Playoffs Simulations!
You need to go 44W38L to make the playoffs out West. Despite their troubles 29-17 isn't unrealistic for the Lakers. Look at the Rockets record away and in their conference. Only 6 depots are locked up in the West if there are no injuries.

Honesty I'd rather be the six or seventh seed rather than fourth or fifth in hopes of avoiding okc for as long as possible. If the clips maintain the best record then I'm going to look pretty stupid, but oh well.

Re: WHY? ESPN's Lakers Playoffs Simulations!
If the Lakers are able to defeat enough teams to pull themselves out of this deep hole, then it just goes to show the huge lack of competitiveness in the NBA. It's a reason why so many NBA fans refuse to watch basketball until the playoffs. If the NBA allowed only 4 teams from each conference to make the playoffs, the regular season would be far more competitive and viewership/sales would increase.
I see why the Lakers aren't worried just yet. They are taking advantage of the fact that the NBA allows more than half the teams to enter the playoffs. It's sad that a team that finishes with an under 500 record can still play in the playoffs. lol : ) |

Where as 7+ teams in the east have done it in the same time. So why don't you go cry with your thin little creep veil to the Magic, Pacers, Raptors and Hawks among others. Oh and love your little smug lol after a phrase that makes 0 sense and is wrong if you are talking about the Lakers. |

I'd be shocked if the Lakers pulled it together and made the playoffs. Just watch a Lakers game, they look like a train wreck.

I would be relatively shocked if the lakers missed the playoffs. I guess I'm just an optimistic guy.

Re: WHY? ESPN's Lakers Playoffs Simulations!
Their differential still leaves me to believe their record could easily be reversed save for a few plays here and there. That means nothing for those first 37 games, but their luck (along with their chemistry, health, and effort) can improve for the final 45. 29-16 would get them to 45 wins, which could be good enough for the 8th seed. Though there schedule has nearly been in the bottom 3rd in terms of difficulty, and will therefore obviously get harder, it's not out of the question for them to attain that record.
I think the Warriors and Blazers are due to hit a rough patch at some point, and LAL could be in position to make up some ground when they do. |

And the wolves look like they're out of the picture which is nice for the lakers.

Re: WHY? ESPN's Lakers Playoffs Simulations!
The Sports media, and the league is in denial that the Lakers are about to go through the dark ages. Heaven forbid the Lakers aren't a force to be reckoned with anymore.

Re: WHY? ESPN's Lakers Playoffs Simulations!
Don't understand why so many Heat fans (mostly on another forum) have so much angst toward the Lakers. We have no reason to be envious. We won the Shaq trade, have won the season series since, have the younger transcendent player, and have matched them in championships since the pseudo-rivalry was formed upon the Shaq trade. We've never played each other in the Finals, so I don't see the reason for all the vitriol. Maybe it's based on the Lakers' illustrious history or Kobe perhaps still being more celebrated than LeBron?
