Suns fire Alvin Gentry
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/88...h-alvin-gentry
I didn't know Gentry was the GM of the Suns, but if he is then he definitely deserved to be fired.

Re: Suns fire Alvin Gentry
Ya, I never had MUCH of a problem with Gentry. He has definitely made mistakes and sometimes his substitutions and decisions late in games are a little odd but I think he was doing fine with what he was handed. But as we all know, the Coach takes the blame first. But wouldn't be shocked to see our front office redone this summer I believe Blanks and Babby are both expiring too(does anyone know?)

Re: Suns fire Alvin Gentry
Seems to me that Gentry is above average NBA coach, not great or anything. The moves they made in the offseason were a disaster and they just don't have a good enough roster, especially in the West. Not sure that he hasn't been instructed to use Beasley more than he would if he had his own way also.

Re: Suns fire Alvin Gentry
Well as of late Gentry and not played Beasley or played him very limited minutes. So I don't think their is a front office mandate or anything. BY most accounts from trusted Suns Insiders Beasley has been a pain in the locker room.
Gentry got shafted for sure. But it's always easier to fire the coach then the front office. |

Pretty remarkable streak really. It's a shame it came to an end but it was inevitable I suppose. |

There is a rule on this board which was fulfilled, here. Every time an NBA coach gets fired, somebody mentions his substitution patterns in the first 5 posts.

Re: Suns fire Alvin Gentry
Hey guys/gals! Quick question.
Why do NBA coaches get fired, only to end up on another NBA team? For instance, Mike D'Antoni was fired from the Knicks, but landed the prestigious job as head coach of the Lakers. |

Once the Suns' 97-94 home loss to Dallas was over, Coach Alvin Gentry was asked if it was time to move Beasley to the bench. "More than likely," Gentry said. Could he do it for Saturday's game at the Los Angeles Clippers? "Could possibly be," Gentry said. And then Gentry went into a closed-door meeting with Suns staff and Managing Partner Robert Sarver after five consecutive losses. The problem with the timing to demote Beasley now is Thursday night's injury to P.J. Tucker. He was a candidate to replace Beasley at starting small forward but sprained the MCL in his right knee and did not return to the game. More on Tucker's availability will be learned today. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ba...5213--nba.html
