Jamison: "Jordan could still score double digits today"

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/s...contributor-50

Quote:
"I wouldn't doubt that in the right situation with a LeBron (James) on his team or with a Kobe (Bryant) on this team, he could get you about 10 or 11 points, come in and play 15-20 minutes," said Antawn Jamison before the Lakers played the Bobcats on Friday. "I wouldn't doubt that at all, especially if he was in shape and injuries were prevented and things of that nature."
Quote:
"He wasn't joking," said Jamison of Jordan's declaration at the HOF ceremony. "You hear stories still to this day, especially last year, him going to the practice facility and playing 1-on-1 with the guys and still they can't stop him."
MJ is about to turn 50, could he still play a t a decent level in today's game? I think with how much less physical the nba is and how little defenders can touch offensive players i think he probably could.

Re: Jamison: "Jordan could still score double digits today"

I'd figure injuries would be an issue, and even Jordan probably couldn't play decent D at 50. Purely offensively, he probably wouldn't move much worse than Brokeback Miller in last year's finals, so I'm sure he could have games where he goes off from the perimeter. On top of that I could see him doing damage in the post against the right matchups. Any team that gives up a driving layup to a 50-year-old should be contracted, though, so I doubt he'd get much of anything done around the rim. Would be fun to see, but he'd have to play an extremely compact role and his overall production would be a net-negative unless he could be completely hidden defensively.

Re: Jamison: "Jordan could still score double digits today"

It would be 10 points on 15-20 shots or so IMO - so while I think he could I don't think any NBA side would pick him up.

Really? It's Michael ****ing Jordan, I don't care if he's 100! Any NBA team with a brain would want him on their team!

Re: Jamison: "Jordan could still score double digits today"

Anybody can "play" in the NBA if a GM and coach put them on the floor. I could average double digits and get absolutely lit up by everybody I guard if you give me enough shots and playing time. That's about what you'd get with Jordan if he were to try to play now.

The novelty would wear off pretty quickly if he was costing your team games.

Re: Jamison: "Jordan could still score double digits today"

NOPE! I have only heard of 1 player being seriously asked to come back at the age of 50,the same guy Ali was 5 seconds away from finalizing a championship fight with, and the Kansas City Chiefs wanted to sign.

I doubt MJ could play a quarter without either being lit up or passing out.

Re: Jamison: "Jordan could still score double digits today"

honestly i think jordan would have the same problem iverson had in that once he was no longer good enough to be "the guy" his ego wouldn't allow him to be a role player.

if he could manage that , sure why not , its not like jamison has any reason to lie and he is smart enough to continue being a good team defender though not man to man anymore.

You really think you could average double digit points in the NBA?

of course you realize the reasoning wilt could come back and jamison's reasoning are the same.

they were still getting it done vs. current nba talent.

in both cases it would take a rather massive conspiracy for it not to be true.

Video: Michael Jordan practices with Bobcats
By Royce Young | Blogger
December 12, 2012 4:28 pm ET

Bismack Biyombo after playing some one-on-one with Michael Jordan at Bobcats practice: "He's pretty good."

Yeah, Bismack. He was. And still is.

Jordan is almost 50, and we all know he could probably still score 15 or 20 points in an NBA game.

“He's still got it. He can still shoot,” Gerald Henderson said, via The Charlotte Observer. “I don't know about his defense, but he can still score.”
