Re: Nuggets, Kenneth Faried reach agreement on 5-yr/$60M extension

Good contract, not overpaid not underpaid.

Who is better, Kenneth Faried or Tristan Thompson?

Both are picked in the 2011 draft (#4 Thompson, #22 Faried)

Faried is a physical beast, but Thompson has a better skills.

Faried is not a center piece, but he is an elite roleplayer. He is worth that money, but he is only a piece to the puzzle for the Nuggets.

My current contract standards it's probably in line with his talent as a player. In reality I think it's an overpay. He's not a great defensive player, he's fairly limited on offense. He's a good rebounder and he busts his ass but since when did those players start making $12M a year? Crazy

Possibly, but that doesn't mean it's a good contract now. I guess the argument is he is getting overpaid for the first half and underpaid for the second half. But I think that's still debatable really.

that's the only way you're going to lock guys into long term deals right now, otherwise a lot of them are just going to take their chances in the short term in the hopes of lucking out when the cap raise hits

Bledsoe has 5 years 70 mil contract, not max.

What does Eric Bledsoe have to do with this?

Bledsoe also wasn't an extension it was a free agent contract was it not? he played out his rookie contract of 4 years and we made the qualifying offer which made him a RFA. So the reason he could get 5 years was that it was not an extension on his rookie scale contract it was a new contract all together. And since we are the resigning team we could offer him the 5th year compared to 4 years everyone else could offer.
