I don't know who invented it, but Tim Hardaway mastered the crossover in his early years.

In the last few years, the league has made it a point to crack down on palming and carrying. This in effect, has made refs quick to make calls on crossovers (sometimes justified and other times not). On an interview with BET, Iverson joked in a calm way "Once I got Jordan with it, then it became ridiculous because that's when they cracked down on it."

Timmy had a great crossver but he admitted that Iverson, White Chocolate and Marbury had better crossovers than his own. Either Timmy is being very humble or he is telling the truth, since he has seen all their crossovers in person.

The UTEP 2 step was deadly, but that pails in comparison to Jason Williams(grizzlies) hesitate cross, or Iverson's crossover or Marbury's back to spin cross.

Iverson had the deadliest before they changed the emphasis on the rules.

Like he said. Once he got Jordan like that things had to change.

Hardaway's had a nice crossover in Golden State, but it was never as nasty as Iverson's when he came into the league.

The whole story behind Iverson getting that crossover is pretty cool. He didn't even have a crossover when he went to Georgetown but he kept getting schooled by this guy there, and he made the guy teach him the move, and he mastered it to where the guy said Iverson had made it his own. Wish I remembered the guy's name.

But it's very much like the plot of a bad kung-fu movie. Which makes it even better.

Bob Cousy was first to go between legs but pistol pete was first to do a crossover.

In his younger days, AI broke more ankles than Hot Sauce. You can argue who had the most refined crossover, but AIs was the best. He victimized folk.

Where are all the descriptions of Iverson's crossover?

He pretends he's going to do a first step to the right/left, like he's certainly going to do it. But he instead swings the ball to his left/right hand, as the defender would either fall, or go the opposite way.

Check the video clips of crossing Jordan and Sura, and you'll know what i'm talking about.

Many people were crossing over before Pistol Pete Maravich (Ralph Beard at UK, for example). I think crossing over became kind of a general thing; something that grew. I don't think anyone actually invented it. But if I had to say someone were to have invented it, I'd surprisingly have to say Elgin Baylor did, who was also before Pistol Pete's time.

I remember Gary Payton saying Tim Hardaway's cross over was sweet. He even said, he'd pay a lot of money for someone to teach him how to do it.
