Besides all that there have been some reporters in Phoenix that have said that McGrady has called the Suns team office about a month ago and told them he wants to play for the Suns.
So take it for what its worth because nobody except McGrady knows what team he really wants to play for. All we are getting now is speculation.

I really doubt that. Players these days dont handle anything themselves, their agents do it all (or their mom (VC)).
Maybe they meant his agent called Phoenix. I seriously doubt he did.

If nothing else all of this speculation has proved the thread starter incorrect. T-Mac hasn't backed them into a corner because today alone I've heard he's going to the Lakers, Spurs, Rockets, Suns, Pistons, and Pacers. There are probably a couple of other teams that I have forgot. The Magic will have plenty of options if they decide to trade them, but they will not IMO. The Magic would have to get something back in return that was worth more than a max contract worth of cap space, and there aren't too many teams that can do that.

Exactly.
I dont see why some people cant understand that Orlando isnt going to get robbed and trade for a bunch of junk just because Tmac says he wont re-sign.

Exactly. I don't understand why people make trade proposals involving McGrady for expiring contracts. Hello, if Orlando wants the cap space, they'd keep T-Mac for another season and have the cap space when he leaves.

From what I can tell it was Wiesbrod who started this whole situation with his faux tough guy talk.

Hmm, didn't anyone else catch the article where McGrady denied saying he wanted to go to LA or SA, saying that would be too easy, and said he'd like to play in Houston, or Indiana/Detroit being quoted as saying that he wanted to play for those teams because they have had trouble scoring in the playoffs? It's in the Orlando Sentinel and I'm too lazy to look it up, was p osted a couple days ago. Seemed that this article was directly from the mouth of T-Mac and not some source.
My take on the Hou/Ind/Det scenarios: I think that deals with either of these teams wouldbe good. They all three have good defense in place, room for T-mac, and good coaching -- and it's clear that T-mac was being sincere when he said he wants to play on a contender. For Orlando, all those teams have some tradable goods, and Orlando could do much worse than trading with either of those three teams.
As for T-mac staying in Orlando, I dunno but I think if I were an Orlando fan I'd start the healing process early and just consider him gone. He's said that he's 90% sure what he'll do this summer, and it's clear that means he thinks there's a 10% chance of Orlando pulling off enough deals to morph into the contender T-Mac wants to play for. The fact that McGrady has pinpointed potential contending teams with serious front courts and defensive presence really suggests that McGrady isn't just content with making the playoffs and living somewhere nice -- he wants the glory and I think Orlando's only chance of keeping him is by somehow surrounding him with similar talent.
Which seems alot less likely that 10%, I think that's just being kind...

Tmac was quoted saying that he wouldn't mind a guy like Okafor being selected #1 (it was shortly after Okafor and the Uconn Huskies won the NCAA Finals)... he gave mad props to okafor etc.
I seriously think Tmac+Okafor will force McGrady to stay only b/c he will see upside..He wants to WIN NOW...true..so as long as the magic make the playoffs and onto the 2nd round, he most likely will stay...they will just need to find the right team.
