Cousy, Isiah, and Clyde could all score (and in bunches, if needed).

Cousy once scored 50.
Isiah had that 25pt (or something like that) 4th quarter in the Finals. And these are mere examples (like Clyde scoring 30 in the finals against the Lakers to secure the win).

On the other hand, Kidd is a lousy scorer.

Cousy never shot 40% from the field for a season.

And the "pure point guard" distinction downplays a player's overall ability, in my understanding of the phrase. It's saying he was either limited in his abilities or he just simply did not significantly impact the game in certain aspects...as if this deserves praise...
