Shaq is the best center I have ever seen, followed by Hakeem. I never saw Wilt or Russell play, and never saw Kareem in his prime.

I always feel like a broken record when I say this, but the fact that Shaq has never led the league in rebounding or blocked shots says a lot. Simply put, he's not that great at getting the ball. Feed it to him deep in the low post, and it's lights out. But as the last two playoff series against Detroit have shown, he really is his own little island out there, and the island is shrinking. Chamberlain, Jabbar, Russell and Olajuwon all come to mind as guys who could influence the game in more ways over more of the court.
