Kareem passes Wilt Chamberlain

It's 1984, Lakers vs Jazz, when Kareem passed Wilt for most points by player in the NBA history. I didn't know they stopped the game for Kareem's speech.

Re: Kareem passes Wilt Chamberlain

Kareem surpassed Wilt's record.

And after that he went on to win another 3 championships.

Kareem will be surpassed by LeBron some day, provided Bron has a long & healthy career.

Right now, LeBRon is 32,080 points back. Even if he averages 32 ppg and 80 games per season for the rest of his career, he'd need 13 more seasons to surpass Kareem. It's a long shot.

Uumm no. I see only Bron as the only realistic candidate to exceed Kareem since he was drafted from high school & immediately put up high scoring averages. 20 to 27 to 30. He has a huge advantage over a lot of great players since he came into the league @ such a young age. Kobe's could have but his 1st 3 yrs in the league weren't that great w/ 7 to 15 to 19 ppg. There's a huge difference there between Bron & Kobe. If he plays into his late 30s or even 40s he's definitely got a good shot but he needs to have to average 26+ ppg & have a very durable career.

I don't think it's that much of a long shot
I can see Lebron playing 16 more seasons
depends on if he ever sustains any serious injuries

I thought this thread was about Kareem breaking Wilt's "other" record....
