I suggest you pop in a tape of Worthy 1985 and compare it to 1991. He might have averaged more in 1991 because Kareem was retired ,but athletically its not even close. Also keep in mind Worthy was injured in the 1991 NBA FINALS. He sprained his angle Game 6 of the WCF against Portland.

There is no way Levingston and Horace grant can shut down worthy for 3 straight games ,when Worthy used to destroy the pistons and Dennis Rodman.

and by the way b scott i know that you are one those unfortunate souls that feel very deeply that the lakers are better than the bulls i sure would like to debate this with you seeing that i live in la and have yet to find a competant fan that can tell me why they feel this way. so let me know if you are up to the challenge. or any laker fan for that matter.

I would say MJ, he could share, rebound, and defend but you also knew he was going to score as well as anyone ever to play.

They both led some of the best teams ever, but MJ's addition, as the alpha dog, also changed the Bulls' status in the league to a very tough out in the second or third round of the playoffs.

Are we talking now ,or back in the days. The Showtime Lakers would have ran the MJ Bulls off the court. NBA was watered down in Jordans era. When Isiah ,Bird Magic were in there primes along with there teams ,MJ would not have won anything. He got to the finals when the pistons got older. 1988 1989 1990 Detroit owned the Bulls.

As for right now ,yea the Lakers are better then the Bulls. Lakers are better in the Low post then the Bulls. Lamar had 34 points 13 rebounds Game 1,and tonight he had 23 points 10 rebounds 6 assist. Lamar ,Bynum ,Kobe ,Kwame all can post up. Bulls rely to much on perimiter shooting. When those outside shots didnt fall tonight ,look what happened. Bulls blown out by Orlando. Lakers have guys that can get higher percentage shots on a consistent basis.

Bulls' 2005-2006 record in the Eastern Conference; 41-41.
Lakers 2005-2006 record in the Western Conference: 45-37.

Pretty simple.

the pistons werent old when the bulls came of age and swept them. the average age of the pistons on 91 was 31 and they were the defending champs. did they age that much in one year?

Re: Magic or Jordan? Which had more impact on there own team?

no to mention that the 91 bulls in mu opion was not the best teanm the bulls had. i like 97 because the had a solid post player in 6"11 brian williams. the 97 bulls were really deep. and as far as the current version, the jury is still out but i dont think odom and bynum could do as well against wallace and brown as they did against phoenix and golden state.

Re: Magic or Jordan? Which had more impact on there own team?

The OP used a bad example to make his point....but I would say that both MJ's were great at improving their team; they just accomplished it in different ways. I would suggest that Magic's methods may have been more universally applicable than Jordan's, but that the directness of Jordan's impact on the game could compensate for that...it would really vary by the situation.

But Magic was a better team player. And Eric Snow as well...

their win totals went from 63 to 59 to 50 from '89 to '91. whether they got old or not, they certainly got worse.
