Re: Magic or Jordan? Which had more impact on there own team?
i can tell you why, they lost rodman in i think 92 and thomas career was cut short by injury but the bulls did destroy them while they were in their prime.

Re: Magic or Jordan? Which had more impact on there own team?
please provide facts behind your claim. i already informed you that the bulls swept the pistons while the piston were in their prime (average age was 30 to 31) and then when someone else said that they only won 50 games in 91, i replied that they won 50 while thomas only played in 48 games that year. not to mention they were the reigning back 2 back champs. the pistons were not over the hill.

The Bulls never beat a prime Pistons squad.
In 1990-1991, Thomas was injured. Like you said, he only played 48 regular season games. And he was the heart and soul of that team (yeah, i know Dumars won a Finals MVP, but that's the same as James Worthy winning one). Dumars was banged up. He kept playing, but they had to tear a hole in his shoes so him planting his foot wouldn't be so harmfull. Some of the other players were past their prime, most notably Laimbeer, Edwards and Aguirre. Even Vinnie Johnson.
Let's keep in mind that, before meeting the Bulls, that Pistons squad had to go 5 games to beat the Hawks and 6 games to beat the Celtics (where Bird played in spots and with a broken back).
This Pistons team was NOT the same the Bulls faced earlier. And please don't pretend it was.

Re: Magic or Jordan? Which had more impact on there own team?
that an excuse not a reason, i never hear laker fans saying that the 88 championship should have an asterisk next to it because thomas was visibly injured and should not have been playing. i dont make excuses for pippen when he had the supposed migrane headach. it happens, im pretty sure the bulls had nagging injuries too. but the team as a whole(the pistons) were not over the hill.i consider over the hill as not playing the way most people are accustomed to seeing a player play or team. hell i could underestand it more if the pistons took them to seven games but they were swept. thats just a way for laker fans to take a way from the bulls accomplishments.

What's also true is that the Chicago Bulls took the Detroit Pistons to a 7 game series in the 1989-90 Eastern Conference Finals, where the Pistons won, but the Bulls were easily on the same tier as the Pistons that season. That's also the season the Pistons repeated. The Bulls proved to be much better then the Pistons the following season in 1990-91 when the Bulls swept the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Excuse?
What is wrong with what i wrote? I'm atalking about the 2 best players of the Pistons' squad being banged up and how the rest of them became old. How does that have anything to do with an injured Isiah Thomas?
Do you want me to bring out the "James Worthy played injured in the Finals against the Bulls" story?

Re: Magic or Jordan? Which had more impact on there own team?
sure bring it up, just remember the bulls had that finals well in hand before worthy was injured. but i stand by my words that whole james worthy was hurt nonsense is bs. by that time all players have nagging pain its part of the game. but like i said before, laker fans will try anything to take away from the bulls glory. oh and you total | |
