Shareef Abdur-Rahim VS Chris Webber ???
Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Chris Webber have more similiarities, than contrast. eg, Good-Great offensively.....
Chris Webber - Career PPG - (21.6)
Shareef Abdur-Rahim - Career PPG - (19.1)
Both have good balanced arsenals, especially for big men. Chris edges Shareef out in RPG, by two; but as Charles Barkley has said, it's better to get more fierce important rebounds rather than quanity. Well Shareef definately edges Chris out in that value.
And for similiarities, both are good passers for big men, and also good at SPG. Two assets that have evolved into many Power Forwards games, that once was a big time rarity..... Ofcourse Wilt, Kareem, and even in further latter years Hakeem, and Karl did a great job with being versatile.
Weighing out both these premeire PF's scoring and versatility, Chris comes away with it, not by a land slide; but rather handedly. Because he averages 2.5 more PPG than Shareef does. But that isn't a big advantage. And as far as their versatility goes, because Webber out does Abdur-Rahim (atleast statistically) in RPG and APG; he edges out Abdur-Rahim here also. And for proof he has the most TRIPLE DOUBLES in the league currently, behind only Jason Kidd, and Grant Hill. But this is miss leading in the quality of differance that exists between Webber's versatility and Abdur-Rahim's.
Perhaps where Shareef catches up, is in the two players contrasts. Chris Webber is a below average defender. Where as Shareef isn't nessarily an elite defender, but a good defender. No where can the differance between Webber's defense and Abdur-Rahim's defense be displayed and compared to better, than what they both did/doing in Sacramento. Where Shareef isn't the best defender, but is one of the top players that contributes to the Kings actually being an above average defensive team. During Webber's 61/2 years in Sacramento, the Kings were a contender, but aweful defensively. In that one and only area, Webber didn't help any.
Also Reef is alittle more prone to hit a clutch shot, where as C-Webb (being the team leader most his career) never did do this to the level he was expected to.
So between the similiarities and contrasts, in their primes, who would you take on your team, Chris Webber -(who's prime was with the Kings) , or Shareef Abdur-Rahim -(who's prime was with the Grizzlies). Yet just to note, both have played good basketball every where they go.
Who do you take in their primes ???

Re: Shareef Abdur-Rahim VS Chris Webber ???
I really hope you're not just fishing for people to say Webber on this one. During his prime Sacramento years, you guys loved him more than anyone on that team.
But anyway, the answer is Chris Webber, by a mile. I really don't even think it was a question. Before his injury, he was on pace to have a Garnett-like career. And he would have if it wasn't for his (basically) career-ender.
I think people forget how good Webber was because we see him now and we see someone with limited mobility camping out at the high-post shooting jumpers all day. But that wasn't the prime Webber at all. It's a shame to see how far he's fallen since his injury.
The man was a monster in his prime. Shareef's a good player, but he's never been close to Webber in his prime.

maybe if the question was webber last year vs shareef at his best, it would be close. otherwise, it's lopsided.

You nailed it right on the head
Webber was the closest thing to KG so far. He was outstanding in the post, scoring, and rebounding...he did it all.
Webber by a mile...

Re: Shareef Abdur-Rahim VS Chris Webber ???
How is this even a question? SAR put up stats on bad teams and never made them better while Webber was playing at a HOF level.
Also, Webber is a very good passer for his position while SAR is average at best. SAR also couldn't stop a chair from scoring on him.

Re: Shareef Abdur-Rahim VS Chris Webber ???
I laughed when I 1st saw the topic then realized you asked, "in their prime". See that changes the equation: Webber hands down was a franchise player "in his prime". Shareef was at best a good scorer much like Webber's 20/10 season last year...ie, he posted good numbers, but with little to no impact on the game.

Webber was/is an amazing passer for a big man, a pleasure to watch; I'll chime in with the rest - not close, imo.
