Reggie Miller is not a first ballot Hall of Famer
I saw Reggie Miller menitoned in a Yahoo Recap of an indiana game (he was watching courtside) and linked to his career stats... take a look at them and it's hard to believe this guy could ever be a Hall of Famer or a first ballot anyways. He has CAREER numbers of 18.2 ppg, 3.0rpg, and 3.0 apg... forget the name and looking at the stats, would anyone now think this guy is a franchise player??? To put it into persepctive Kevin Martin is having a season right now that you could argue is almost as good as reggies best season where he averaged 24, 3.6, and 3.8, but nobody is saying wow, Kevin Martin is turning into a Hall of Famer... the only thing that he has going for him is some clutch perfrormances, shooting stroke, and the fact he's an icon in Indiana simply cause he played there so long...

Isn't he the all-time leading 3 point shooter? His FT% is among the best of all time also. And career averages don't tell the whole story.

Re: Reggie Miller is not a first ballot Hall of Famer
OK, maybe not 1st ballot but he'll get in. He's 1 of the greatest outside shooters ever, if not arguably THE best ever, 1 of the best off-ball movers & has come through in the clutch time & time again against top teams in the 90's & early 2000's & has played for a single franchise for as long as anyone else. He's the all-time leader in 3s which will probably be shattered by Ray in the future & is also 12th all-time in career pts scored.

IMO he is not a Hall of Famer. Good player but not a HOFer.

Remember, Joe Dumars made it in & his stats don't exactly blow anyone away. You can't just focus on stats alone.

Stats aren't everything, Reggie is pretty much a legend so he will make it.

Re: Reggie Miller is not a first ballot Hall of Famer
I agree. Players are quoted as saying that he was the hardest player they ever guarded, including Jordan. Anyways, he's a part of that elite group of player of the late 80s-early 90's of Barkley, Jordan, Malone, Stockton, Olajawon, Ewing, and ZO. All of whom I think will be first ballot inductees. Even though many players were really good, I think it diminishes the legends like Bird, Magic, Jordan, and Kareem by including people like Dumars in the HOF with them. I think it should be a pyramid type setup. The best of the best get put into the legends category of the HOF and then it branches out from there.
