Mel Daniels is an interesting case. Artis Gilmore proved himself in the NBA, and while not as dominate as he was in the ABA, he was still an excellent player. Mel Daniels however, only played 11 games in the NBA. I think he would have been an excellent NBA player too, but he certainly wouldn't have dominated the way he did in the ABA.

Maybe not, but he did outplay Dave Cowens in the exhibition matchups with the Celtics . . . seriously though, assuming they let him get away with bodying his opponenents as much as he did in the ABA, he would have been a very fine NBA center. Most of the other ABA greats played (and starred) in the NBA; the guys that would have had the most trouble were the small guards like Mack Calvin or Larry Brown, plus the 3 point shooters since the 3 point shot wasn't there yet so Louie Dampier, the best ABA point wouldn't have made it either.
