You really think MJ was worried about playing Hakeem's Rockets?

The Bulls had no answer for Ewing, but they still beat the Knicks.

They had no answer for Mourning, but still beat the Hornets and Heat.

They had no answer for Shaq, but still beat the Magic when MJ had a full season in him.

A typical response from an MJ fanboy.

Jordan said he would have been worried if they played the Rockets in the Finals. I say his word counts for more than yours.

Re: hakeem vs. duncan

jordan did actually play in the '95 playoffs, and play at jordanesque level. his playoff stats were comparable to the following 3peat stats. that team lost horace grant and wasn't as good on the boards. jordan's turnovers were up (although no different than the '92 playoffs), in part because he felt he had to do more. we have no idea how the team evolves had jordan not left for almost 2 years. would pippen have stayed or would he have at some point wanted out from jordan's shadow? would they get harper? how would kukoc have adapted? how would jordan have maintained his focus? the assumption that the bulls go on to win 8 straight is a huge LEAP.

Re: hakeem vs. duncan

I would take Hakeem for peak performance over Duncan (not over Shaq though). At his best, Hakeem was a more dominant player, particularly defensively. (Hakeem's offense, like his career, is overrated because of that one series where he owned David Robinson). Duncan has been more consistently outstanding, his career value may have exceeded Hakeem's since Hakeem has that period in the middle of his career where he spent a lot of time whining about his salary and his intensity often suffered.

Interesting factoid...

Quote:
The 1993-94 Houston Rockets played the champions from France, Italy and Australia after that season, winning all of their games. They were the first NBA champion to play in exhibition games against championship teams from other leagues; some argue that this made them true "World Champions."

i think michael was worried about every having to face hakeem in the finals. and he said so. you can stay in denial if you want, but here is the quote
After a loss on his home floor at Chicago Stadium in 1993, Jordan said, "We have no answer for the big guy. It's a good thing they won't ever make it to the (NBA) Finals, because I don't think we could beat them."

So simple... yet wraps up everything.

Tim Duncan has never been on a team rebuilding or bad team... period. Partly because of him.. obviously, but even before he got there.

His team was always Big Man oriented, surrounded by the players brought in for David Robinson. And if Robinson didnt choke during the playoffs, I'm a huge Robinson fan, but by now we all knew he always under performed come playoffs... again... if Robinson didnt choke during the playoffs... he would have his own ring(s). He was always surrounded by great role players and shooters that complimented big men. Thank goodness to the brilliant and best team management in the North America... the Spurs.

Back to Hakeem...

Hakeem talent wise, ability wise.. is superior to Duncan.

Duncan just won more, because he plays for the Spurs.... the best run team in the NBA for about 15 years now. Again look back to David Robinson's days there... he had the the correct team to get them to the finals... just that he didn't play to his capabilities come playoffs.
