Re: 10 Greatest Hornets

Hornets are a weird franchise for me because there's no big stars I immediately associate with them as a longtime franchise player. The guys at the top of your list maybe (Zo, Rice, LJ), but many of those guys have strong associations with other teams too.

Anyways, I like your list pretty well as it stands. I would almost certainly put Anthony Mason on there over Chapman though, maybe higher.

Only counting their Hornets' years, Mason averaged 13 ppg, 10 rpg, 5 apg, PER 17 in 236 games. Chapman averaged 16 ppg, 3 rpg, 3 apg, PER 13 in 220 games. Not to mention that Chapman's Hornets' teams were perpetual cellar-dwellers (20, 19, 26 wins) while Mason played on teams with more talent that actually did won some games (54, 51, 49 wins, even though they never did make it past the conference semis.)

Some other guys I'm tempted to put on the list are Chris Paul and Vlade Divac, but I can see how you might reject them for longer term-of-service guys like PJ or Curry.

Re: 10 Greatest Hornets

I think that's a strong list for now. In another couple of seasons, presumably Chris Paul and maybe even Tyson Chandler will belong on the list.

Re: 10 Greatest Hornets

Yeah. I expect Paul, CHandler, and maybe even West can crack the top 10 soon.

Re: 10 Greatest Hornets

Chapman really has no place on the list.He was a mediocre player at best. His PER's with Charlotte were 12.6,11.9,15.1 and 12.3....Overall he was a disappointment. He was a great dunker, but that's about the only thing he was really good at.He only had three or four decent seasons in his entire career and only one of those was in Charlotte.Even though Divac was only in Charlotte for two season he was really tremendous in those two years.Probably him and lots of other guys did more for the Hornets than Chapman.Chris Paul has already done vastly more than Chapman and David West probably has as well, same can be said of anyone that has had one good season for them.
