Who Would've Been Great Celtics Who Weren't?
The great Boston Celtics teams of the past were all about team, eschewing personal statistics for the betterment of the team. The Celtics were the first team to invent the concept of a Sixth Man with Frank Ramsey, and later with John Havlicek, who agreed to come off the bench because it helped the team win, something which would be unthinkable for anyone with that level of talent to do today, and he was able to step into the starter's role as a #1 option when that's what was needed for the team, bringing two more titles. Red Auerbach didn't look at statistics, paying players on what they did for the team rather than the statistics they accumulated. Working together as a team, unselfishness, winning, this is what the Celtics were all about.
What players who never played for the Celtics do you think had the appropriate mindset to fit into this philosophy and would've made great Celtics had they played for them?
