Where will today's greats rank in history of NBA?
I know it's hard to predict what will happen in the future but lets try. Where do you think today's greats will rank when they retire? You have 4 choices: 1)Top 10 2)Top 25 3)Top 50 4)None. Also, you can specify where they will rank in those categories. If a player is top 10 you can say #7,8. If a player is top 25 you can say #12,24...etc. I'm going to be judging the top 10 players in the league. I know everyone has different opinions but try to use my list. Also, pay no special attention to the order in which they are ranked. Here is the list:
1. Shaq
2. Duncan
3. KG
4. TMac
5. Kobe
6. Kidd
7. Pierce
8. Iverson
9. Dirk
10. Webber

THAT is one interesting flight of our imaginations!
First of all, I like most on your list of choices, except maybe CWebb, as I don't think he'll make the upcoming Greatest 55 of all time. I don't know if he has the points, rebounds, assists, and a few other things like all-NBA 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team selections. If he has at least 4 of those plus more than 10,000 rebounds or 17,000 points, then maybe he gets considered.
I really think that Stockton amd Malone will be considered waaaaaaaaaay before Dirk and CWebb. I don't know if those 2 will last long enough (play enough games) to acquire the needed accolades for the upcoming greatest 55 players of all time.

I've always thought it was strange that the guys we watch today, like Duncan/Bryant/O'Neal/McGrady, will be called all-time greats fifteen years from now and beyond. I guess it's just tough to grasp that future generations will think of these guys the way people like me (20 years old) think of Wilt and Oscar Robinson.

This was a good thread if it made you think of that fact. It is a fact that some of the players we watch today will be considered for the HOF. If you have NBA tv, you're fortunate, as they'll show some old games every now and then.
Believe it when Isiah Thomas says that Pistol Pete was his inspiration. The greats of any era are just that - GREAT in their own time.
