Re: If The Malice In The Palace Doesn't Happen...
Maybe, but probably not. I wouldn't have bet on a Jermaine O'Neal led team going head to head against Shaq or Duncan.

It was a dual prime Ron Artest and Jermaine O'Neal led team with a side of Reggie Miller.
Artest was playing very good ball those first seven games.

Your point being? Would anyone actually hesitate to build around Timmy/Manu/Parker in 2005 as opposed to Jermaine/Artest/Miller? I know I wouldn't.

Re: If The Malice In The Palace Doesn't Happen...
O'Neal was a top three big man? That's news to me. I'd take Duncan, KG, Shaq, and Dirk easily ahead of him in 2005. Sorry the Pacers weren't better than the Spurs. They were merely really, really good.

Re: If The Malice In The Palace Doesn't Happen...
They had like a 2-3 year window if the fight never happened. Jermaine O'neal knees started going in 06' although Artest's could've been a much better player than he turned out to be had he kept focus. I would say 1 or 2 final appearances but comes up short both times.

That year? Yea.
He had easily surpassed Shaq. And why did he beat them in MVP voting then if they were better (at the time)? Keep talking out of your ass.

Easily surpassed Shaq!? Are you serious? Shaq should have won MVP in '05 and was on the first team All NBA after turning Miami into a contender.

Re: If The Malice In The Palace Doesn't Happen...
Artest would have certainly had himself a Max contract and that probably would have been a real albatross contract before it expired.
