Interesting. The team with four shooting guards meets the team with four point guards.

Uhhh... if you say so, I guess. His coaches and his contemporaries might go ahead and disagree with you, though.

This match isn't even close. West and Cousy are so superior to Alvin Robertson in talent, it's not far. Robertson has to be the worst starting PG in this league by a large margin, and I know he's a solid defender. They'll attack and create easy opportunities for themselves and their teammates.

Speaking of defense, that's what you'll need for Alvin & Kobe. Alvin has a domestic violence and sexual assault on a child, trafficking an underage child for sex, and forcing sexual performance by a child. Kobe is well-known for telling the lovely lady in Colorado to "kiss his d*** goodbye" while raping her. And we don't even need to start into Michael Ray Richardson's coke problems - he got banned from the league!

Nate Thurmond is one of the few people who can match Karl Malone's brute strength. Will be a great battle with these two trying to out-muscle each other. Alongside them, Mikan should have his way with an undersized Bellamy trying to guard him.

The advantage inside at center, and outside at the point is going to cause huge headaches for the Sonics.

Re: NLD: Charlotte Hornets vs. Seattle Supersonics

Kobe would, of course, make it his mission to shut down Jerry West in this game. I would also imagine Clyde would do a very good job on Gervin. I guess that means the perimeter battle would come down to picking your favorite Robertson. Big advantage to Hornets on that one. All-around, I prefer the Sonics frontcourt a little. I can't choose until I know what types of offensive and defensive schemes you guys plan to run.

He's as much of a point guard as Dwyane Wade or LeBron James are today. Because someone initiates the offense or the offense is run through them, doesn't mean they are a PG. Most places list him as a 2/3, not a 1/2.

Re: NLD: Charlotte Hornets vs. Seattle Supersonics

Huh. I don't mean to be argumentative, but that hasn't been my impression. Look at lists of the best PGs ever, and Oscar is always on them. These distinctions are a bit academic for players of that vintage because a guard was just a guard, and sometimes one of a team's two guards simply handled the ball and distributed a bit more than the other.

And I agree 100% with you. In all honesty, "positions" are all relative to what offense you're running.

I coach high school ball. In my offense, the 2 and 3, or 4 and 5, are literally interchangeable. There is no difference between saying you're my 4 (PF) or 5 (C). I've had the luxury of having two very good point guards a few years, and the 1 and 2 and 3 were blurred for those years because there wasn't necessarily the same PG bringing the ball up every time - the other "PG" filled a lane like he was a 2 or 3. This year, I'm putting in a flex offense vs. M2M. The 5 guys on the floor are interchangeable, it doesn't matter who is where, just fill the 5 spots, and with enough ball reversals, everyone ends up in the every spot since it's a continuity offense.

The problem with the depth charts and such in this league is that - we really can't get that deep. We're really not coaching the teams we drafted, and the games aren't actually being played.

How is that relevant to this?

So only point guards get assists right? He was a combo-guard before that became popular as it is today.

Did he play PG? Sure. Did he play SG? Sure. Did he play SF? Sure.

"I don't know hardly any of the players who have the in-between game like me, who can go to any position on the court." -Oscar Robertson-

Look at your own roster, is Allen Iverson a PG or SG? Your answer - he's both.
