its hard to go against West the way he's been playing lately but i'll take boozer cuz he is the better rebounder
and also I think Boozer is more succesful himself while West is really helped by the presence of Chris Paul
of course Boozer has Deron Williams but I don't think Deron helps Boozer as much as Paul helps West

If you asked me to pick now, I'd have to say David West. He's proving he's got it in the playoffs, playing great ball right now and also has the attitude (getting up in Dirk's face, just general shouting and stuff after a good play..). Doesn't help Boozer that he's playing pretty awful right now, and really going down in people's minds (while West is shooting straight up).
But before the playoffs, I would have said Boozer. Maybe West's play will drop through the series and Boozer'll come back out on top, who knows..
* I'm not sure on ages either, how old are both?

I feel like Boozer's the better postup player, and that's at a premium today. Depends on your system though. I think West, as a faceup offensive player would fit on more teams right now. Neither's much more than a decent man defender.
They're pretty similiar everywhere else, I don't see a major advantage for either beyond Boozer's offensive and rebounding game.
david west is a likeable guy who was underrated. he's a guy who plays hard and he has some uncanny moves on offense.. that said, i don't think it's fair to compare him to boozer. boozer plays hard, and despite how people may preceive him with the way he handled his contract in cleveland, he's definitely a talented player. he has better size than west, and is just more of a force to be reckoned with. west does play better defense though. anybody see duncan last night? i didn't think so.

It's been ten years, and I say if Michael Jordan chose to still play the game of basketball, he'd dominate.
Neither are very good low post scorers. West's jumper is slightly better and he has the better face-up game. He's also a little better at creating his own shot (the "it's because of Chris Paul" theory just isn't true). But Boozer moves better without the ball and is a far better rebounder and a slightly better passer.
Boozer's numbers are a bit better, but while he averaged 24/11.5 in November and December, he only put up 19/10 in 2008. Meanwhile West averaged 19/10 in Nov-Dec and 22/8.5 in '08.
I don't think the fact that West gets in people's faces counts for anything. Doing that doesn't push Garnett any closer to Duncan. But I'd take West because it looks like he's still improving while Boozer actually seems to have regressed.
I would rather have Boozer for his rebounding ability. Offensively they can both do damage, but Boozer has the edge on rebounding which is obviously important.
David West is not the rebounder Carlos Boozer is. Check out the stats.

They are pretty close. Boozer has not been consistent since the turn of the new year. Hopefully he picks things up against the Lakers, but Boozer is not Karl Malone (i.e. enough to help get to the Finals).

There is a tension, peculiar to basketball, between the interests of the team and the interests of the individual. The game continually tempts the people who play it to do things that are not in the interest of the group.
why does everyone say chris paul makes david west so much better?
and i guess deron williams doesn't make boozer any better?
from what i've seen, david west doesn't rely on chris paul as much as everyone makes it seem. he scores on his own.
the one guy whose career is made by paul is tyson chandler... that guy probably gets 6 points a game from paul's alley oops or passes (when he drives in and is double teamed).
david west on the other hand, they go to him to create for the team on offense.. he either posts up or shoots from 18 feet out. he doesn't get a lot of "gimmies" from paul.
Boozer has been maybe the most disappointing player so far in the playoffs, for me at least. He has the best left hand in the league among righties, but other than that his offense is very, very underwhelming. For someone who is supposed to have one of the better mid range J's, he sure chucks up a ton of bricks. And that shot is damn ugly, way too much arch allows no room for error if it's not perfect through the net.
He is also in a class with Al Jefferson, Charlie Villanueva and Steve Nash as being among the very most detrimental players to a team defense in the league. He is a really, really freaking terrible defensive player.
I'll take West any day of the week. Although he's a curiously ineffective rebounder, no reason he shouldn't be grabbing 10 a game instead of 7.
PG- Rajon Rondo, Gabe Pruitt, Lester Hudson
SG- Ray Allen, Eddie House, J.R. Giddens
SF- Paul Pierce, Tony Allen, Bill Walker
PF- Kevin Garnett, Brian Scalabrine
C- Kendrick Perkins, Rasheed Wallace
Paul controls the whole game when he is out there
even if he didnt assist most of West's baskets a big reason for them was because Paul told somebody to get out the middle and clear the lane so West could drive
even when he doesn't have the ball he recognizes mismatches and see lanes for his team mates
Chris Paul is truly a coach on the floor
