I've never seen a player ascend within 12 months at this stage of their career the way Dirk has. Pretty sure this time last year his career was in the gutter after being labelled a playoff choker again.

That article made me laugh though. Sounds like something written about Ivan Drago.

Dirk is money.

To me there is pretty much a top tier in the NBA right now, and on any given night several players in the NBA can be considered the best.

Dirk Nowitzki
Dwight Howard
LeBron James
Dwyane Wade
Derrick Rose
Kevin Durant

That's my short list of the top tier players in the NBA currently, and actively based on this past season. (career/rep) plays no barring. If you want to do a career list, Kobe is number one.

If Dallas defeats Miami and wins the cup, I will consider Dirk as a top 5 player to ever play the game.

In terms of post Jordan: Shaq, Kobe, and Duncan are clearly the top three. And it's not close. I'd put KG right after them and while LeBron rounds out (and will continue to climb) the top five.

Dirk would probably be sixth.

LOL @ KG ahead of LeBron. LeBron is already infinitely ahead of him on the all-time ranks. That's not even debatable.

Dirk is also quite easily ahead of KG.
