Besides Fisher and Battier I would say the biggest floppers left are Manu, Wade, LeBron and Pierce.

And Rose absolutely does the head snap.

Re: Top 5 floppers in the conference finals

I'm trying to think of good examples of slashing wing players who don't really flop much. What about Tyreke Evans? I'm trying to remember him flopping, and I can't think of an example.

No, Rose almost every time he drives to the basket nowadays he does the head snap to try to get the call.

Don't watch enough of Tyreke to comment on that, but I think John Wall is a good example of a player who is a slasher that does not flop.

Most players with "high basketball IQs" flop.

Re: Top 5 floppers in the conference finals

Taking charges isn't flopping. If you're absorbing the contact, you ain't flopping. Pietrus? He flops like an overweight mackerel on a fishing dock. Pierce? Not really. Ray Allen also doesn't flop so much as wave at his guy as they go by. Battier also isn't much of a flopper, he takes the contact before he hits the ground. That Ginobli/Bell flop was an NBA master class in flopology.

Pretty true assessment... with the possible exception of Kevin Love. Oh, I forgot about him flopping whenever he has inside position on a rebound to try to get over-the-back calls. I'm actually surprised more people don't flop in that way. Seems like the flop most often successful at getting the foul call. That or the Chris Paul special, slowing-down-in-the-middle-of-the-floor-to-let-a-big-man-run-into-your-back flop.

Ginobili, Harden, Pierce, LeBron, Wade, Kobe, Paul, Griffin all come to mind when it comes to unwarranted flailing to get calls.

Re: Top 5 floppers in the conference finals

Guys who take charges are still flopping. The amount of contact they take wouldn't normally be enough to knock them over. They aren't necessarily flailing their arms but they are still exaggerating the contact by falling down.

That's why they need to revise the charging rules somehow. It encourages flopping.

Again, if you're absorbing the contact you're not flopping. Sideshow Bob? If you pass within 20' of him he hits the deck. That's flopping. If you're absorbing the contact, you ain't flopping. Look at that Ginobli Harden clip above, there's absolutely zero contact and both guys it the deck like their bodies have been rent asunder by assassins bullets. That's flopping. Udonis Haslem throwing himself on the floor last night when he noticed Garnett behind him, that's flopping. Pierce and Battier absorbing the contact? Just good old fashioned basketball. Players have been doing that since I was a kid.

Flopping is exaggerating contact to either try to draw a foul, or all together fake contact to trick the refs.

Paul Pierce is one of the worst offenders in the league.

Absorbing the contact? They are exaggerating the contact by falling down. It's not enough contact to knock them over.

That aside it still bothers me that standing still with the intent of falling down is considered something which should be rewarded. It takes away from the game in my opinion. Makes it less enjoyable to watch.

No, flopping is when there's pretty much no contact and the player goes down anyway. When there's actual real contact, i.e. you're drawing a charge by establishing position and and absorbing the contact from the offensive player, you're not flopping. Players have been doing that since long before my birth. Bobby Jones got about 28 All-Defense 1st team selections in exactly that fashion. That ain't flopping. It's just good old fashioned basketball.

I wish I was better at this in real life. When I get bumped, I just can't bring myself to flop unless I truly get hacked.

Does this year's conference finals have the most flops in the nba history?
