How do you explain Kidd's atrocious scoring numbers
.99 career PSA is pathetic
he has the second worst FG% since 1970 (min 7000 atempts) and 8th worst FG% since 1955
Someone who follows Kidd please explain

He's a bad scorer/shooter. There's really not that much to say: you quoted the relevant stats.
He is, however, fantastic at just about everything else that you could ask of a basketball player. Passing, rebounding, defense, leadership, etc. Which is why he is an elite player despite his scoring woes. On offense, he compensates for his low fg% by increasing that of his teammates.
The two teams he took to the finals were 14th and 15th in the league in fg%, respectively, by the way. Take that as you will.

Amazing we never really hear about how bad Kidd's shot selction is. As great of player as Kidd is it seems like a lot of people give him a free pass because he does everything at such a high level.

I wouldn't say that Kidd is a bad scorer. He just can't shoot. He is a good ball handler with a rare combination of great quickness and size, but his lack of a good jumper makes it hard for him to get into the paint as much as he should. Still, he always seems to hit shots when they count the most.

Yeah, but alot of people say he has been the best PG in the league for the last five years. People really don't hold his horrible shotting against him now?

Sure they do, but consider the flaws of his competitors. Nash is a much worse defender then Kidd is a shooter. Marbury has a rep for being selfish and a bit of a chucker (both overstated, but still true to some degree). I'm sure you can find a flaw in every PGs game, its just a matter of how big of a deal it is.

Eeveryone and their mother knows Jason Kidd isn't a good shooter, so that's basically the main issue. He's just not that good of a halfcourt scorer. He has never gotten to the line a lot, and he really doesn't penetrate and look to score as much as guys like Marbury, Baron Davis, or even someone like Tony Parker. Parker can't shoot worth a lick either, but he looks to score more than Kidd so he gets to the line more.
