... seems to be a barometer of the Knicks' performance. In games in which Crawford has scored at least 18 points, the Knicks are 12-6. When he scores less than 18, their record is 7-39. Also, I have seen a few games this season in which the Knicks lose but play surprisingly well against superior teams when Crawford shines. Is there a stat for this?
eg something that shows the correlation between how many points a player scores above his season average (or how much above his season average his PER is) and his team's performance?

I can't really help you, but I have something that is interesting and relates to this topic.

During the last two seasons, whenever Jamal Crawford scores 40 or more points in a game, the Knicks lose (it has happened twice).

Crawford's a guy who I've come to the realization is never going to be a star in this league.

Does he have the talent?

Yes he does, but mentally he just can't seem to put it together.

That being said, he could still be a very good player that should be able to average 17-18 ppg.

It's a shame the Knicks have had such a poor season, this is a guy who could easily win 5-10 games for them a season by himself with his offensive ability.
