This is my scorer rating. It's meant to compare how often players score with how well they shoot (using ts%). Data from Doug's Stats. Minimums are 40 games played and 15mpg. Here are the top 20:

Re: Scorer rating
How is it calculated?
And for volume do you use simple ppg? pts per 40 min?
Anyways, pretty interesting.

Re: Scorer rating
thanks for responding. Sorry I didn't include the formula. It is scoring prolificness times scoring efficiency. Formula is: (PTS / Min)*(PTS / (2*(FGA + (0.44*FTA))))
nothing fancy

Re: Scorer rating
In my methodology, I had Yao at number one (but this was a couple months ago, before Kobe had his string of 50 point games). Basically, Yao came out as the most dominant scorer by a comfortable margin based on having the highest percentage of points scored of all players on the floor when he is on the floor. The calculation corrected for variances in team scoring output and minutes played per game.

Re: Scorer rating
Ohh, nice mysterio. This is probably a much better method than what I did. But I'm assuming you had to use the play-by-plays to produce this data. Unfortunately I'm not savvy enough in scripting with sed to get the data from play-by-plays. I'm working on it though. I hope to have a full database by next season.

Re: Scorer rating
That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
