It would be appreciated if someone who's watching these games can post reports. How are Zoran and Veal doing? Who look like keepers from the invitees? What kind of plays are the coaches running?

Due to space limitations, the event is not open to the public, but orlandomagic.com will feature daily coverage of the games including box scores, game recaps and cumulative statistics.

So, unless you have Stefanski's e-mail address....

Yeah, no TV and no public does cut down on the audience.
But, hey, if Ed Stefanski, an arena security guard, a ball boy, or anyone else who's able to get eyes-on, posts game reports on BBB.net, I'll read them and be thankful for them.

Good stuff from Planinic. Don't know yet how much cost-cutting is in the works, but if that's the plan, then that could mean no bigger-name back-up PG coming in, which means Planinic will be under the spotlight.
I'm optimistic enough to think Kidd won't miss much time, though that can't be guaranteed with a micro-fracture surgery. But it's doubtful Kidd will be able to play full-speed, full-minutes for a while. After all, this non-weight bearing part of his knee that just had its cartilage removed and hopefully regrown bore enough weight to hurt Kidd's play last season.
The back-up PG will receive heavy play.

Magic 94, Nets 67
Boxscore
Quiet game for Penigar. Another solid game for Wallace. Valters isn't getting much PT, but he seems to be making the most of it.

Kyle Davis has sleeper potential. Sounds like the 2nd coming of Dan Gadzuric.

Scouting Report: Very athletic player with great quickness ... A tremendous shot-blocker and a fine rebounder ... Collects swats at a productivity rate as high as any other center's in the nation ... Will land a job in the NBA because of that skill ... Downside to his shot-blocking is his inability to avoid foul trouble ... The circumstance greatly limits his minutes ... On offense, runs the floor extremely well for a big man ... Attacks the basket ... Uses his athleticism, reach and dexterity to routinely finish around the bucket ... Has a nice shooting touch ... Rarely, if ever looks to score with his back to the basket ... Most of his points come from garbage baskets.

Nice words about Zoran in Orlando:
Quote:
ZORAN PLANINIC:
Z was balls out the entire week, he is a nice, nice player. He lead the team from a point perspective was aggressive defensively, made some nice shots for the Nets, he and Brian Scalbrine were men among boys at times, and his big frame makes him hard to defend. I like him a lot and think he could be a big time player …

Among the notable rookie free agents who joined the Hawks draft picks in Monday's practice were forward-center Marquis Estill of Kentucky, center Kyle Davis of Auburn, guard Junior Harrington of Wingate, guard Drew Nicholas of Maryland and forward Cory Violette of Gonzaga.

I believe he is on their Salt Lake summer league roster.

2nd strong endorsement of Planinic's summer league showing at PG. So far, so good. Maybe he is ready to take a big leap in his 2nd season.
http://draftcity.com/articles/0058.htm
Quote:
New Jersey Nets
Zoran Planinic: Didn’t have the best stats, but I really like this guy. Runs the pick and roll to perfection, always finds the open man, and can stop and elevate nicely for the mid-range jumper. Isn’t the most athletic player in the world, but gets by on his court smarts. Played some decent defense and did a great job running the team.
John Wallace: Can you believe he is still in summer league? I bet he can’t either. Wallace did his usual thing, he is a scoring machine and everyone knows that. For once he didn’t look like a complete black hole. Defense has never been something he’s been interested in, but at least he tried here. With Rodney Rogers off the team, he would probably make a decent 8th or 9th man here.
Brian Scalabrine: Mr. Everything on the court, the assistant coach so to speak. The real coach, Lawrence Frank was sitting right next to me for this game, and it’s not hard to tell that he is in love with him, he was cheering on “Veal” the entire game.

Thanks for that link. Good words about all 3 of those guys.
However, not so good on potential Net, Dajuan Wagner:
Quote:
|
Dajuan Wagner: I am not sure if there has ever been a more frustrating player to watch than this guy. The term “point guard” should never be placed anywhere near his name, he has to be one of the most selfish players I have seen in a long time. It takes him about 12 seconds to even get the offense started as he dribbles and dribbles and dribbles the ball until he absolutely has to give up, and then demands to get it right back. From there he will either pull up for an impossible fadeaway shot off the dribble with a hand in his face (which he sometimes makes) or he’ll take the ball with a head full of steam all the way to the basket. His teammates may as well start walking back up the court at that point because everyone in the gym knows he’s not going to pass it. Any assists he made in this summer league were purely incidental, I assure you. No defense, terrible shooting, he’ll dribble the air out of the ball if you let him. That’s Dajuan Wagner for you right there, a homeless Allen Iverson.
