Nets trying out Europe's 2nd best scorer
Willie Solomon, a member of the Nets summer league team, averaged 24.1 ppg this season after averaging 21.7 in 2002-03, both extraordinary numbers in European league competition. He also knows how to win. He was a member of two European championship teams, Aris Thessaloniki in the now defunct FIBA Europe-wide tournament in 2003 and Hapoel Migdal in the new ULEB Cup finals in 2004. In 2003, he was MVP of the finals.
Here are some links to his career, beginning with his NBA draft page from 2001, when he was drafted by the Grizz.

His NBA.com profile, having played in 62 games for the Grizz in 2001-02:

His 2003-04 stats can be found here:

In an interview done before the championship round, he talks about the difference between the NBA and European basketball:

This would be a great year to have some summer league games on TV. This is one of the guys who I'd love to check out. Apparently, Mateen Cleaves isn't a fan, though.

Nets trying out SHOOTERS
Penigar the leading scorer in the NBDL and Solomon second leading scorer in Europe. Both can hit the three. Both played for championship teams. Both scored a ton in college, Penigar at Utah State, Solomon at Clemson. And both are young enough. Penigar is 22; Solomon 25.
The odds would have to be against them making the team but I wonder what the odds would have been a year ago that Marquis Daniels would be making more money than LeBron James.

Will Solomon!! IIRC, he was a scoring, shoot-first type PG. Pretty sure, but not sure. He can really score and shoot though, I remember that.

I also thought he had played for the Nets on a short contract somewhere before too.

Who are some other potential gems that are playing on other teams summer league rosters?
The Nets roster looks like a combination of size and scorers, but I'm sure there have to be others that the Nets were looking at, but that signed with others.

Hard to get the names in one place
each team has its summer roster on its own site, not on the various summer league sites. Some teams have not been selected yet because the leagues dont start til later in the summer and some players are playing for more than one team. Kyle Davis, for example, is playing with the Nets in Pepsi SUmmer League in Orlando, then joining the Hawks for the Rocky Mountain Revue.
Here are a sampling of a few decent players on other teams' rosters:
--Ales Chan, 7-2 Seton Hill center, undrafted, Knicks [was projected as a second rounder, but fell in the last few days before the draft.
--Andre Barrett, 5-10, Seton Hall guard, undrafted, Knicks. Also fell in the last few days before the draft because he is viewed as too small.
--Darius Rice, 6-9, Miami forward, undrafted, Heat. He really wants to play for Miami. Projected as a first round pick two years ago, he never lived up to his promise.
--Horace Jenkins, 6-1, William Paterson guard, undrafted, Euroleague, Pistons. Now 29 years old, he was Division III player of the year three years in a row, but was undrafted in 2002 then went to Europe, where has averaged nearly 20 ppg in his two years playing in Italy and Greece. Thorn said at the time of the 2002 draft that he is too small to play the SG position.
