The Brooklyn resident whose home was in the way of Ratner's plan for a new arena beat Ratner, Katz etc. to the punch last November when he trademarked "Brooklyn Nets" with the US Trademark and Patent Office.

Then in late April, he quietly abandoned the application, permitting New Jersey Basketball, LLC, Katz's operation, to trademark the name.

At least the name won't change.

Anything in the papers about this? It seems like a minor thing, but for some reason, keepin the "Nets" name would make it easier for me.
