Is New Jersey blowing up?

Jason Kidd is collectiong his thoughts before talking publicly.

Jason Kidd is recovering...from knee surgery and now the Kenyon Martin trade to Denver for three first rounders. The Nets might have to deal Jason Kidd.

Seattle trades: SG Ray Allen (23.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 4.8 apg in 38.4 minutes)

Seattle receives:
PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes)

Portland trades: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes)

Portland receives:
SG Ray Allen (23.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 4.8 apg in 56 games)

New Jersey trades: PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes)

New Jersey receives:
PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 85 games)

TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Seattle, Portland, and New Jersey being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Seattle, Portland, and New Jersey had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Seattle does it: They get a player that is better than Allen and is thought of as the best point guard in the NBA. Fair deal for Seattle.

Portland does it: They get their shooting guard and outside threat that they have wanted all summer and they move Abdul-Rahim who might cause problems once training camp starts.

New Jersey does it: They are cutting cost everywhere for this new ownership. It is begining to look like they are going to be in the rebuilding process and want to start completely over. Abdul-Rahim will be coming off the books next season where Kidd would still have more time and money holding the Nets back.

I am sure that other players and picks would have to be involved, but these three would be the headlines, thoughts?

I have hear rumors off of Oregonlive.com in their Blazer forum that Daruis Miles might be offered in the deal with Jefferson coming back to Portland. What is the mood in New Jersey on the Nets if this goes down?

I think Jefferson is the last player that would be traded. If they are truly giving up, they will at least keep RJ around, unless he chooses to walk. For Darius Miles? Argh.

I can see Kidd going. That trade would work, since Rahim's contract is up in a year. Nets would be smart to get Telfair, if they did that.

Telfair just signed with Portland so a deal including Telfair couldn't happen until mid December. Something huge is up with the Portland Trailblazers. John Nash has had several private conversations with Mo Cheeks and other GM's at the Rocky Mountain Review today. Coming in and out of the arena during their loss to San Antonio. Many people believe that with Nash's ties to the Nets something is up with New Jersey.

GM John Nash was on talking on his wireless device for much of the first half.

For most of the second half, he appeared to be using the text-messaging capability on his phone, perhaps in an attempt to not speak aloud about a potential trade?

The Oregonian's Jason Quick told me Nash pulled Cheeks out of the building for about 20 minutes. When Cheeks returned, Quick asked him what was going on, and the coach appeared flustered and hemed and hawed his way through a non-answer.

Quick thinks something is brewing, and he doesn't think it has anything to do with New Jersey. I'm trying to get the scoop, but Nash has reportedly been asked by owner Paul Allen to not be so forthright with the media, according to Quick.

Yeah, I'm just saying that if the Nets are breaking it all down, Telfair would be perfect, since he could get some Brooklyn fans in the arena before they even move. Hard to imagine a trade for Kidd right now anyway, before anybody knows how well he'll recover from the micro-surgery.

Thanks for the tip, though. They're have been rumours of different Portland/NJ trade for so long, thanks to the Nash connection.

True, the Kittles and Williams trade doesn't help Portland as much as the this above deal landing Ray Allen, but Abdul-Rahim is going to have to be moved before training camp, he is saying that he will hold out if he is not moved, should be interesting.

I couldnt agree with you more...I was jumped on when i said the Nets should have moved up to grab Telefair.....And that was before the Nets traded Martin. It was a NO brainer, especially from a business standpoint....

Before they traded Martin, they were a championship contender, and Telfair would have done them no good. We were thinking at that point that they needed someone who could contribute right away, like a Luke Jackson.

Now that we know the real direction the team is going, it does make more sense.
