In signing rookie free agent Kyle Davis yesterday, the Nets made a move they hope will address at least some of the shot-blocking they lost when Kenyon Martin went to Denver.
Davis, a 6-10 forward/center, averaged 2.6 blocks a game at Auburn. He led the SEC in blocks in all four of his years at Auburn, and finished second all-time in SEC history behind Shaquille O'Neal with 360 career blocks.
Davis also blocked 10 shots in five games for the Nets summer league team in Orlando.
"He is an aggressive rebounder and shot-blocker and we feel that he will provide us with additional depth at the center position," Nets CEO Rod Thorn said.
