Kobe murdered Nets
If Kobe doesn't use Clippers as a tool (use Spurs instead), Kittles trade may happen earlier. Then Nets have enough budget to sign Martin.

Let me see if I can translate:
If Kobe didn't use the Clippers, they would've made the Kittles trade earlier, and the Nets would've re-signed Kenyon Martin.

I think I follow
Kobe says he's interested in Clippers,
They give away Ely and House for cap space to sign him
HE goes back to the Lakers
Did the Kittles deal fall through due to them wanting Ely back?
Nets couldn't clear the cap space to sign K-mart.
The only problem is that Martin wanted more than NJ wanted to pay in the first place. It was an old school free agent conflict of not getting the offer he wanted as opposed to them being handcuffed by the cap ( although the were)

Thank you for translating.
Nets should have kept Martin if they had dumped Kittles salary earlier.

nets didn't want to pay martin. they didn't want to pay kittles. it's not that they didn't want to pay both - they didn't want to pay EITHER. martin's upfront money made the nets walk. simple as that.

unlikely, imo. he's the guy that maintains some franchise value. the nets said they would have matched martin if it wasn't for all the upfront money.
kidd doesn't have a huge signing bonus in front of him to drain the nets of capital. he's all salary now, and he at least gives them a marketable figure, and actually gives some hope, along with rj, that they can be competitive.
kittles was overpaid. martin's arguably overpaid. and now they're not their financial issue.

A little off-topic but getting back 3 first-rounders for K-Mart was a major score for Rod Thorn. They didn't want to pay Martin, simple as that and they could have gotten nothing in return.
