ok sorry, I ment players no one wants.

not players no one knows.

From today's Bergen Record:

Quote:
The Nets agreed to terms with guard Brandon Armstrong late Friday afternoon, a league source said.

No announcement yet, and the word is that either Storey or Smith could be activated for today's game. I would think that they would immediately put back on the IL once Armstrong is officially signed.

Unless they somehow announce the Armstrong signing today, and Brandon shows up in uniform for the game.

Nets G Mercer undergoes knee surgery

Quote:
Two days after being placed on the injured list, New Jersey Nets guard Ron Mercer underwent surgery on his left knee Monday.

In a procedure performed by Dr. Michael Kelly at Lennox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, Mercer had multiple loose bodies removed from the knee. He is expected to be sidelined for up to eight weeks.

I just hope that they use RJ and Zoran at the two more than they have. I can't take 30+ minutes of Buford for the next two months.

Maybe Brandon will come in and take some of those minutes away.

MISSING MERCER: Ron Mercer will miss six to eight weeks after he underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove "multiple loose bodies" from his inflamed left knee joint.

The Nets were going to sign Brandon Armstrong but the ex-Net failed his physical.

"We are still going to go forward," said Nets GM Ed Stefanski. "Within this week we will (bring in players)."

Matt Carroll, Marcus Haislip, Walt Williams, Derrick Dial and Damone Brown are possibilities.
I don't know much about any of those guys, except Walt...but I think his better days are behind him. Damone was around for a little last year, but that was that.

A source confirmed that the Nets will bring in guard Matt Carroll and all-time Big East scoring leader Troy Bell — a first-round pick by Memphis last year — to work out today. Tomorrow they'll look at forwards Tremaine Fowlkes, Marcus Haislip and Britton Johnsen.

Stefanski also said the Nets are investigating trades for a shooting guard or small forward.

I wonder what desirable assets they're willing to deal. Train, probably, since his PT is way down, and there has to be some teams needing a solid big man off the bench. Hard to figure out what else another team would want off this roster. Planinic, I guess, but I would think the Nets would prefer not to deal him.
