I don't think A-Train is in the doghouse. I think the coaches are just trying to develop other players. Williams never complains about minutes, and plays effectively when called upon. That's a coach's dream. On the other hand, he's not young and probably doesn't have much unfulfilled potential, that is, "upside".
It's clear the Nets are hoping Collins develops into more than an adequate big man. In one of the first few games he hit several midrange jumpers, but since then he hasn't been scoring much.
Mourning has shown a lot of the intensity that made him a perennial All Star. However his error prone play and limited minutes the past few games suggest he may not be up to a starting role any more. He would probably be most effective coming off the bench and playing no more than 20 minutes a game, possibly including crunch time.
I think Krstic got into the Seattle game because the Nets were already being blown out before the end of the first quarter. He showed nice touch and ability to finish around the basket. On the other hand, he clearly needs to get a lot stronger and seemed foul prone on defense.
Having said all that, I would like to see A-Train play a lot more. Start Collins at center and A-Train at power forward. Give Mourning as many backup minutes as he can handle, and throw in Krstic and Eric Williams at those spots as situations dictate.
