I all I really know about him is that he was a hustle player...but he might be a decent pick up, depending what we'd have to give for him.

I'd rather pay Kenny than pay Najera that price.

While Thorn may not be done dealing - he needs some bigger bodies, and a source said the team is looking into acquiring Memphis guard Dahntay Jones - the team president is thrilled to get a player he didn't think he could acquire.

Jones isn't exactly a big man, but he's a good defender and a Jersey guy and would be a vast improvemnent over Buford.

Definitely an improvement over Buford, but Jones has a similiar body type to RJ/VC. The Nets need some size.

Jerome Moiso was waived by the Raptors, but the Nets have little interest. In fact, the Raptors tried to persuade the Nets to take him in the original deal.

The first call Thorn makes will be to Dwight Manley, the agent for Karl Malone, just in case the future Hall of Famer has changed his mind about living in a place without cows and hogs in the immediate vicinity.
"I still don't think Karl is interested in playing in the East, unless it is Miami -- just from reports we've had from people," Thorn said. "But I'll have a conversation with Dwight Manley."

D'Allessandro throws a bunch of other names out there in that article, but doesn't seem to think that anything's that promising.

Kenny Thomas has actually been thriving recently with his starting position back, right now he's suffering from some the flu or something like it.
If the Nets made a deal with the Sixers it'd most likely be for Brian Skinner. He has a five year $24 million deal, but it's only partially guaranteed he has a buyout set after the second season. Skinner is capable of running the court, just don't expect anything consistent from him offensively.

Philly could be a option Dalembert is not playing too much (i believe) Mark Jackson has been the starter and Skinner could be a decent pick...

For the person who said Mailman would come here or Miami...
Why would Karl come here? A team struggling to make the playoffs
He wants to win a ring

hey've talked around the league, basically looking at guys with short time left on contracts, with indications they were close to getting something done. Among those being considered or pursued: Golden State's Cliff Robinson (who has this year and next remaining on his contract), as well as Washington's Kwame Brown and Toronto's Donyell Marshall, who both have this year remaining.

Efforts by the Nets to acquire Cliff Robinson were rebuked by the Warriors, I'm told. No surprise there.

From today's Bergen Record:
Quote:

Although their chances of landing Samuel Dalembert are not very good, the Nets could try to get involved in a three-way deal for the Philadelphia center. League sources said the Nets have spoken to Philadelphia, but the 76ers may not be ready to move the Seton Hall product yet. If they do, they probably would want a big man, which the Nets don't have. The third team could either be Chicago, which is willing to part with Eddy Curry, or Phoenix.

I like sammy. He's not great on the offensive end, but he's very good on D...and he would give us a lot of help on the inside

Possible free agent pick-ups from today's Bergen Record:

The Nets continue to look outside for big men, and are considering Corie Blount, Sam Clancy and Obinna Ekezie. But they may not sign anyone until Jan. 5, when teams can start signing players to 10-day contracts.
