All summer long we heard about the impossibility of paying Jason Kidd, Kenyon Martin, and Richard Jefferson max deals...and the fear of the luxury tax. Therefor Martin was a sacrificial lamb of sorts.

But with the acquisition of Vince Carter, the Nets are now locked into three max deals for a considerable amount of time.

How will this affect the Nets?

Do you think that by using their MLE's in the coming years, the Nets can add enough to a Kidd/Carter/Jefferson core to challenge for a title?

Do you think the Nets ownership would even be willing to add more salary?

Carter = more people in the arena
more people = more money from tickets


Maybe with this added money coming in, they'll be more willing to put out some money?

Just need to get a decent bargain at PF. With Collins and Krstic, I'm satisfied with the center position (since there's not much need for scoring from Twin).

I'm encouraged, and believe they might use all or most of the mid-level next summer if they can't get what they need before then.

I hope they find something before then...if we just go with Collins, Nenad, Veal and Jabari Smith, we're gonna have problems. Nenad picks up fouls quickly, as does Collins sometimes. I love Veal, but I think he is a better bench player...he went nuts tonight, but I don' thtink that will happen on a regular basis. And Jabari...I'm not really sure what he can do...

That being said, if we can get a decent PF, I think we'd be set (not to win a championship necessarily, but be better off then what we were a week or so ago). I'm not talking about an allstar player or anythign, just someone solid that has shown what they can do.
