Carter embraces role as 3rd option
Quote:
Carter's role with New Jersey will be much different. The Nets are Jason Kidd's team first, then Richard Jefferson's. That doesn't bother five-time All-Star Carter.
"I'm happy with it," Carter said. "I'm just there to be that other guy, that third guy to help out. Now who are you going to worry about more? It's going to be fun."
|
So much for the Vince apologist's calling him a leader.

As opposed to him whining about not being the #1 guy?

its sad to see the waste of talent. One time compared to MJ, now the third option on a dismal eastern conference team. And he's excited. Vince, its your mindset. It isnt that of a superstar

I think we all knew he wasn't a leader, but there are some players who can be very successful if they are second bananas, but fail when they're asked to be first bananas. We'll see how well Vince does in New Jersey, I'd be shocked if New Jersey doesn't end up regretting this trade, but you never know.

I dont know about everyone else, but after his great year where he had them 1 shot away from the ECF, I really thought if the right pieces were build around him, he couldve carried the Raptors to a championship.
Even his injured years, I always told myself, he'll be back and be a solid 28/5/5 guy.
It took this season to make me realize that he really will never make it as a #1 option.

He is straight up saying he can't lead a team to victory, he needs to support other players not have other players supporting him as the main option. Inexcusable, considering the money he gets paid and the fact that he is only 27.

knowing his role on this nets team is not the same as saying "i cant lead my team to victory". you've got players on that roster who have been all NBA, who've been to the finals multiple times. they wont, and he shouldnt, expect him to come right in and carry this team as the leader or what ever... he's just staying humble, and this coming from someone who loves to bash vince into the ground

It's not about knowing his role in NJ... it's more about running away from the role he was supposed to play in Toronto.

good to hear Vince is happy again.i just hope he has fun there. To a player who has a fragile knee and Achilles tendon,u can't ask too much from him.Vince used to be a totally difference person,he had sworn for many times B4 he would fire back to those ppl who criticized him by good performance, but he just suffered injury after injury.so why be so harsh on him?he changed his attitude towards life 1-2 years ago.that's not bad.after all, what's the meaning of life?can't he just enjoy the game?

RP you said 2nd banana, he's not even that. He is happy to be a third banana. He gets paid the max to be a 3rd banana?
