To all those who love to criticize Kenyon Martin...

Well, some people are praising Martin, who in 29 games has put up some staggering defensive numbers: his starting counterpart has scored 370 points for a 12.8 average while shooting - ready? - 135 of 339 for a measly .398.

I will still criticize him Bizzy. He doesnt score or rebound enough to keep opposing teams honest. I will say more often than not he is a pretty good man to man defender

Pretty good? That's absolutely ignorant. He is a great defender. One of the best in the league if for any other reason his versatility. On most nights, thanks to all the weak centers, he can guard any man on the floor. Not only can he gaurd them but shut them down. Being a defensive specialist is going to take away from productin on the offensive end, especially when you have a game like his (without much of a jumper). But the jumper will come around, and defense and intimidation he presents will always be there.

Yeah, I read that, those number are scary for anyone who is playing against him.

Last week, Byron Scott and Kenyon Martin sat down to discuss his offense and how he could tweak it to make improvements.

I hope he improves offensively, because if Kidd has to keep scoring the way he does, he probably won't stay with the Nets, his rebounding and assist numbers are way down (1.1 and 1.3 respectivly). I wanna see Kidd in the Top 10 in assist column soon.

I believe many people here agree that how good K-Mart the defender is. If he's to become a great player, he will need to improve his offense and rebounding. If he can find a way to produce offensively and not let his defender deter him offensive productivity, he'll be great. Ask Tim Duncan.

The sky is the limit, this isn't his 10th year in the league. He has made great progress already.

i think many are still in love with KVH..which is ok i guess. He had a talk with BS about relaxing and letting the game come to him. He is averaging 16 and 9 in the last five games. Hopefully, it continues. He will be 26 on the 31st not 25 as some say.

He is. He is second in the league in assists, only .4 behind Payton. You may wanna readjust your stance.

I dunno bout that. He attacks the rim as hard as anyone in the L at the moment.
Martin succeeds so well as a defender because he is quick enough to recover when beaten and can get out on the perimeter and deny the easy jump shot to 4-men with touch.
I'd hate to have him guarding me
