Peace Jacque- Thanks for a Great Season, you will be missed
When I first heard about the Vaughn signing this summer, I brushed it off as totally insignificant. I watched Jacque play early in the season, and I thought Best should be getting his minutes. I remember early in the season, Vaughn picked up 5 fouls in about 5 minutes of PT. Then...once RJ went down, I started seeing something else of out Vaughn. His Defense stepped up to a level where even the corrupt league officials had to start giving him respect. His jumper became remarkably consistent, and no matter what, he was a player that could be counted on.
Vaughn even learned how to run with Kidd, and became the Nets "Kittles-Lite". Watching him work the give and go vs the knicks was a thing of beauty. He was getting better every game. Even Earl Monroe complimented Vaughn and said he was playing on a very high level. I now see him as one of the 5 most important players on this team, and Im happy he got a chance to prove what he is worth. After all the years of not getting the respect because hes Jacque Vaughn...hes now got my respect big time.
Resign Vaughn and let him be on this team next season he deserves it.

Re: Peace Jacque- Thanks for a Great Season, you will be missed
I feel the same exact way. When the season started, I thought we needed Best to play big minutes. As the season went out, I took him for granted. Look around on any Nets forums, you'll see tons of 'Zoran should get Best's minutes', never Zoran should get Vaughn's as he has become part of this team, and an important part. But you'll be hard pressed to find many threads started on why and what he brought to this team.
We'll miss you Vaughn, get well for next season as I want you to be a NJ Net!

I was the same way. I heard they signed him and I was just like "okay..great. Not gonna help us much". But he has been very solid this year. He played great D, and he was one of the players that would always get out and run with Kidd. He's gonna be missed, and I never thought I'd be saying that about jacque vaughn. I hope he comes back next year.

Yeah, I remember when we had signed him, then I heard we were going after Best... I was praying we would sign Best (close to praying). At this point, I'd like to see him back as the backup PG...

Re: Peace Jacque- Thanks for a Great Season, you will be missed
Yeah, it's sad to see Vaughn out. The guy plays with great intensity, we're definitely going to miss his D!! I have to say, Best did a pretty good job coming in for him last night, don't know if his defense can be up to par though. I hope they sign Jacque again for next year, he's very valuable to us, and it's good to have a guy like him coming in off the bench for Kidd.

Re: Peace Jacque- Thanks for a Great Season, you will be missed
Jacque Vaughn made a pivot just two minutes into the game last night, and immediately, he knew his season was over.
The 6-foot defensive specialist, who has relieved Jason Kidd from the responsibility of having to chase point guards around this year, fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot against Orlando, and he was almost fatalistic about it.
"I had it (against the Knicks Friday) night, played through it, and I was going to play through it tonight," Vaughn said. "It didn't let me. It's just a matter of that bone to break, I guess."
Vaughn added that he played despite experiencing pain the night before because he felt well enough in warmups.
"I tried to steal the tap on the first play of the game, so my quickness felt okay," he said. "I was in a good defensive stance, sliding. So it was meant to happen."
Vaughn was told he will have surgery this week, and a screw will be implanted. A comeback this year is out of the question.
"I don't foresee any Terrell Owens in me," he said. "I'm going to be smart. I'm still a younger basketball player, I'll let it heal."
Lawrence Frank now has to rethink his starting lineup, but he may have already made his decision: Travis Best took Vaughn's spot to start the third quarter, and had a solid game (12 points, five steals).

Wait a minute...
uptown brings up a good question.
Can we sign someone to replace him in the roster now?

I think we can...people got signed to 10 day contracts a few days ago, so I don't see why we couldn't. unless there was some deadline between now and then.

There's an empty roster spot, but no one available is going to help in the last 8 games.
