Splitter Stepping Up in ACB playoffs
with reviews--and performances--like this, there is no way he will be available at No. 15.

Re: Splitter Stepping Up in ACB playoffs
I've been reading really good things about him. If he were available around 8 or 9, and Rod and Ed thought he was the real deal, I hope they trade this years and next years #1 to move up. Him and Nenad could be a great front court tandem in a couple years. 2 seven footers! I really like what I hear about his defense.

Re: Splitter Stepping Up in ACB playoffs
the way this review reads, he could wind up in top 5, if he is as DraftCity describes him the second best big man in the draft. The problem is the buyout.

Quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I like that it seems like he plays smart, and with a lot of energy on defense.

My biggest fear is that he taken at No. 8...the Knicks.

First and foremost should be mentioned his outstanding defense throughout the game. Splitter did a good job in the paint, but it was on rotations forced off pick and roll situations where he really showed his talent. Tiago has the rare ability for a 7 footer to match guards step for step from the perimeter down to the basket with his excellent lateral movement, but still always staying close to his man with his hands in the air and not leaving him any options to get his shot off or find the open man. He forced a number of bad shots and turnovers strictly by playing strong and fundamentally sound defense. Gran Canaria's big men tried to back him down in the post and get towards the basket, but Splitter was having none of it and used his lower body and wingspan almost every time to frustrate and force his man into looking for another option.

definetly impresses me.

Thomas would not take Splitter over Taft.

Re: Splitter Stepping Up in ACB playoffs
After reading this article, Splitter has become my A#1 choice for the draft. Unfortunately w/ reviews like that he likely won't last much past #5. However, if he truly is as good as advertised in this piece, I'd even be willing to trade this year's pick and the Clips pick next year to get him.

I fear other GM's would do the same. He could drop if there is a buyout issue but more likely, if there is a buyout issue, he could just drop out by June 21. He is under contract til July 2007. If the buyout caused him to drop to say the #15 slot, he would paid #15 money when he arrived. Why do that when you could simply drop out and then, barring injury, wind up as the overall #1 or #2 next year and get #1 or #2 money? He will only be 21 next year.

Although Vazquez outplayed him in this game, I like what I hear about Splitter's defense.
