Moving up, moving down
http://www.draftcity.com/viewarticle.php?a=191
Simien, Diogu, Lee, Splitter, Vasquez, Fernandez, all moving up.
Taft moving way down again...and now it's on the record.
Also, Lee, Simien and Diogu measurements not just confirmed but exceeding expectations. Watch David Lee's stock. He is a real sleeper. Now projected at the end of the first round and with him measuring out at 6' 9 3/4", it's only going up.

Re: Moving up, moving down
We like Ike!!!
No other PF in the draft is as effective on both sides of the court. And it sounds like his wingspan is as big as Rasheeds.
The question is what kind of dealing will Rod do. Can he really get us 1 or 2 more picks?

Re: Moving up, moving down
Thanks, NI. Your updates on players in the draft are much appreciated. Your threads continue to be at or near the top of my automatic "must read" list.
About the draft: There are, what, about ten players on the list of possible Nets picks right now, not including any more if they happen to acquire a mid lottery pick like what's-his-name suggested might happen. Wow, what a terribly written sentence that was, but I'm too lazy to edit it. I'm just trying to enjoy the remaining weeks before the draft. The way I look at it, the draft is part of the experience of being a fan of an NBA team, and it is an experience we've been denied for the past few years. Last year everyone knew we were going to sell the pick; the year before everyone knew we were going to take Zoran. The year before that our pick was so bad, I don't think anyone really put much thought into the draft. At least I didn't. The year we had the #1 pick, KMart was a given so there was no intrigue or guesswork like there is now.
So who's on the list?
PFs: Splitter, Vazquez, Taft, CV, May, Diogu, Warrick, Petro, Simien
SFs: Graham, Granger
others: Jack? Fernandez? Garcia? Wright?
That's actually 15 players. I don't see how we can eliminate any of them right now, to be honest, given the info we have. (other than the HSers, of course). I could see the Nets taking ANY of them.
It's just that maybe a hint or two of what Rod and Ed will do would be nice right about now . . . .

The question for me is who is the best defender/rebounder of the big men you mention. That leaves Splitter, Vazquez and Diogu. Splitter's contract status hurts plus he'll probably be picked before Nets pick anyway. Vazquez will also probably go earlier. Diogu should be around, has the length and an incredible offensive game to go with rebounds and shot blocks.

Re: Moving up, moving down
May might be in that group, too.
The other option is to take someone that would fit well with the Nets' current players and style of play--that might lead to Warrick, as others have argued.

May is a great rebounder. But defense worries me. Also, May is almost always in the paint. Diogu gives you an outside game and ball handler.
Warrick isn't bad but since the other guys are apparently true PFs...I can't see going for the bench when we should get our future starting PF (not immediately of course).
Great news is Simien and Diogu are PFs only. And picks #9 through #14 do not need a PF that cannot also play either SF or C.

Re: Moving up, moving down
Thanks NI, this format is certainly better for you then the other one. I agree with Run you are a must read.
We like IKE is the new slogan.
Maybe we get Taft in the second round at this point. Fry is not what we need, he is really Collins II.
Splitter VS Vasquez is very interesting if one is a big winner the other could fall.

Luther Head- Shooting the lights out and reminding people just how excellent of an athlete he is. A strong camp in Chicago, with point guard skills included, could conceivably push his stock into the late 1st, early 2nd round.

I really liked him in the 2nd round. He could have been a good back-up at the 1&2. Maybe he will still be there. A lot of guys in the draft and not everyone can move up.

Re: Moving up, moving down
Diogu's wingspan is 7'3" to 7'5", isn't that Brand's size, w/ Brand's height?

Brand AND Tayshuan Prince territory. Both are somewhere around those numbers: 7'3" to 7'5".

Agree. Head would be a nice fit for the Nets' bench. I'm afraid he'll be gone, but there are still 26 days to go...
Thanks for the link, NI. Read it on the way in this morning, and was very intrigued by the news of the Frye/Diogu workout.
