4-7 open roster spots
Kidd, Carter, Jefferson, Krstic, Collins, Planinic, Mercer, Vaughn all have contracts
it looks like Best could be resigned.
thats 8 or 9 players that will be on the roster next year. Throw in 2 draft picks. Gives a roster of 10-11 players.
But Mercer may be bought out. 2nd round pick may not play
Leaves 4-7 players open to sign via FA.
Scalibrine looked like he wanted money (most likely elsewhere) and Cliff Robinson will not get his option (leaving him his pick of where to go...i just don't see that being nj)
This will be a very interesting summer.

Re: 4-7 open roster spots
Chris Andersen, Raja Bell (or healthy Kerry Kittles) and Eric Williams all get my vote.

based on his season this year, I don't expect Drejer to be on the squad. But hey, you never know.

Drejer is a much cheaper, much younger Kukoc! I'd rather just play him.

Vaughn has a team option, as does Robinson...same situation. Al Iannazone on YesNetwork.com says Nets will NOT buy out Mercer...and it's not likely he will opt out of his contract. Undetermined if Best will be resigned. Scalabrine may come back, but I doubt it.
Don't see how you can say second-round pick may not play. Stefanski has always noted the Nets have their second round pick when talking about the future. It's a deep draft. It's possible the Nets could use the second round pick to stash a Euro.
If Drejer wants to play, I can't see why the Nets wouldn't want to give him a try. A partially guaranteed contract with a second year option seems like a smart idea. The guy was one of the brightest stars in Europe three years ago, averaging 30+ ppg in both the Danish league and the European Under-20 competition...more than 10 current NBA players. Nets should know more about him soon. If he comes over, as planned this month, looks good in a workout, it might make the Nets think about using that second round pick on a Euro. [Sleeper Eurostash: Uros Tripkovic, a Krstic teammate in Serbia...6'5", 18 year old combo guard.]
