A Big Advantage of a Deep Draft
Lots of players who normally would get drafted--and can play in the NBA--won't get drafted, meaning good scouting could lead to undrafted players getting contracts.
Here's a list of NBA players who were never drafted:
Chris Andersen, Hornets, 7.7 ppg, 1.5 bpg.
Chucky Atkins, Lakers, 13.6 ppg, 4.4 apg.
Bruce Bowen, Spurs, 8.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, five time All-Defensive Team, one championship ring
Earl Boykins, Nuggets 12.4 ppg, 4.5 apg.
Marquis Daniels, Mavs 9.1 ppg, 3.6 rpg, Top 10 in steals per turnover.
Udonis Haslem, Heat 10.9 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 4th in field goal percentage.
Mike James, Rockets, 11.8 ppg, 3.6 apg, one championship ring.
Damon Jones, Heat, 11.6 ppg, 43.2% beyond the arc. In NBA Top 10 in five categories.
Slava Medvedenko, Lakers 3.8 ppg in injury plagued season. two championship rings.
Brad Miller, Kings 15.6 ppg in injury plagued season. led NBA centers with 4 apg. All-Star in 2003.
Andres Nocioni, Bulls, 8.4 ppg, 5 rpg in rookie year.
Quinton Ross, Clippers, 5.1 ppg, ranks No. 12 in steals per turnover
Ben Wallace, Pistons, 9.7 ppg, 12.2 rpg, 3-time Defensive Player of the Year, 3-time All-NBA. Two-time All-Star. One championship ring.
David Wesley, Rockets, 11.9 ppg, 37.5% beyond the arc.
NOTE: Three of the "never drafted all-stars" played their first NBA games with the Nets: Boykins, Jones and Wesley, all in the John Nash era. Nets didn't resign any of the three.
