A New YES Analyst Candidate
Quote:
An interesting candidate has emerged as the Nets' new YES analyst. Jersey City's Bobby Hurley intrigues YES' president of production, John Filipelli.
"He is definitely somebody to consider," Filipelli said.
Hurley impressed Filipelli when he analyzed YES Ivy League games last season. While Hurley is in the mix, both Doug Collins and Greg Anthony look like ex-candidates. Collins only wants to work a limited schedule, while ESPN is expected to pick up its three-year option on Anthony.

Anthony is first rate...loves the Nets too. Would not be deterred from his positon that the Nets would make the the playoffs.

I agree. Greg anthony is my favorite analyst on ESPN. Also, many people don't like steven A Smith, but i think he makes good points.

Re: A New YES Analyst Candidate
I like Anthony a lot too.
It would be interesting if they brought in a newbie like Hurley to work with the vet, Albert. He's a Jersey guy, and I have a new respect for the Hurley family, so I wouldn't mind it at all.

Re: A New YES Analyst Candidate
Hubie's funny, huge Shaq/Zo/Heat hater. During our series, he was always pumping up the Nets, and trying to tear the Heat down.

WHAT WHAT WHAT?!?!?!
Hubie Brown and Doug Collins are the only two commentators that have EVER shown consistant accuracy in their calls as far as ref's calls.
They aren't swayed by who's the star, who's the home team, or who's the underdog.
Hubie Brown was the one that put together video clips of how Shaq was using his elbows to foul Jason Collins and Nenad Kristic. There were 3 pieces about how Shaq should have gotten offensive fouls but Collins, Kristic, and Jabari got them instead.
I have the UTMOST respect for Hubie Brown as a commentator. Doug Collins is almost as good.
As far as the Nets job, I don't think either will take it. I think they both want to be on the National level.
Why is Tripucka being replaced? He's not that good, but it will feel wierd to have 2 new broadcasters.
Maybe Ian can do the commentating when Marv does play by play, and when Ian does play by play, get Kelly back for those games.

Re: A New YES Analyst Candidate
Hurley would be perfect. First of all, the Hurley's as a collective family know more about basketball than any of us could ever dream of. Bobby would be a great analyst, and give the booth at least a part "true NJ" feel.
