Best Draft pick for the Nets?
The more i think about it, i think the Nets should select Ike Diogu, he understands what he would have to do in New Jersey. He is also a rebounding machine who i think will be our solid starting PF for a long time. he's very strong 21 reps of 185 is no easy task, and if somebody took a cheapshot on Kidd, Carter or RJ he would protect his teammates, and he's a guy i wouldn't want to get mad. If we get him, sign Marshall for the MLE, are powerforward is solved. I think Ike would be starting midseason thou and marshall would be are sixth man.
I could'nt even imagine us having bell, jwill and Bell off the bench, all 3 could practicly start for several teams..

Re: Best Draft pick for the Nets?
How likely is it he will be there. He is moving up. Charlie Villanueva is moving up. Hakim Warrick is moving up.
Let's all welcome Chris Taft?

Then who is moving down?
If we assume that the top of the draft is, in some order,
Andrew Bogut, Marvin Williams, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Gerald Green, Fran Vazquez, Raymond Felton, Joey Graham, Antoine Wright, and Danny Granger, which seems reasonable, then the next four picks (the four left before the Nets) would have to include some combination of:
Channing Frye, Yaroslav Korolev, Jarrett Jack, Wayne Simien, Ike Diogu, Martell Webster, Hakim Warrick, Johan Petro, Sean May, Charlie Villanueva, Monta Ellis, Rashad McCants, Martynas Andriuskevicius, and Chris Taft.
I'm still hoping that the next four picks are four of Frye, Petro, Korolev, Webster, Andriuskevicius, and Ellis. Regardless, even if Warrick and CV are picked before the Nets, that would likely still leave Diogu, who a lot of people seem to be infatuated with, anyway.

Ike would be the best... but any of those players would be an instant upgrade from collins! Also were still gonna sign a FA PF (unless our rookie shows that he's god and can step up big time)

Re: Best Draft pick for the Nets?
All we need is a rebounder and a shot blocker. Someone who can block the lane. Theres like 15 people in the draft who can do that now let's see if we get one.

Re: Best Draft pick for the Nets?
I'd rather go with a guy who has natural ability over Diogu. From what I've read he's not athletic, but has one of the best basketball minds outside of the NBA. That's nice, but it sounds a little like Jason Collins.

Collins never rebounded or played in the low post anything like Diogu.

So have you seen Diogu play? Anything you can tell me about him firsthand, I've never seen him, only articles about him.

He plays like Elton Brand like people say. But he is pretty fast for a man of his size and would go great with the fast break. I don't think he can play for long periods of time yet tho but we have Collins, the man who fouls out the most in the NBA to back him up.

Fast is good, but can he finish?

A true beast. I've seen him several times in the past three years, and the kid is an unstoppable low post force (against constant double and triple teams no less) in the college game. He's ferocious, attacking the rim, getting to the line, rebounding, you name it. How well his game is going to translate to the pros is Rod and Ed's job to determine. But, I can definitely tell you that he's many times the athlete that Collins is or ever was. Lorenzo Romar (head coach of University of Washington, and I believe an NBA assistant or player at some point) said Diogu "has some Barkley" in his game, and feels he's a surefire success, possible star in the pro game.*
*as a side note he also said Bogut is a surefire star, potential superstar.

Sounds good. If he attacks the rim like you say, and is as smart as I've hear then maybe he could be something special. All the articles I read never really gave him any props strength wise so I didn't know if we were talking about another guy who's idea of finishing is laying it up off the backboard like it's the WNBA (no offense).

He does it all down there. Dunks, layins, soft touch, etc. you name it. I think he shoots like 90% from the line, or something like that as well. The only question I have wrt/ him is if he's too short for his game to translate to the pros. Only time will tell.
