Times have changed my man, and even though I hate to admit it Kidd did impact Vince's game a lot. And I really am not hating on Kobe's 81 point performance, its more of what have noticed in his game as whole this season. Whats the use of having teammates on a court when you are going to ignore them once the ball gets into your hand

Kobe is second on the team with 4.3 APG (Odom is first with 5.6) and he has had 10 games of more than 5 Assists. Also, Kobe has managed a A/TO ratio of 1.4 with as much as he has dominated the ball.

Phil's/Tex's triangle is a great offense for one superstar.

Thats really nice to hear. I also suggest you watch a lakers game. I dont know how anyone can argue against the fact that it must be demoralizing when one player even with 3 or 4 defenders refuses to pass the ball and still hoists up shot. One or two times in the game, you might say its a mental lapse but continually play after play. I mean why do guys like Odom and the co-scrubs dress for games anyway, they arent needed on the court after all.

Somebody has to rebound the misses

Phil is great at managing egos and I'm sure the team understands their roles.

well Odom needs to step it up...he blows as a #2 option...can't be relied on game in and game out...

I agree completely. If you're not a delusional fan boy who actually watches their games it's really quite disturbing. I mean he IS the offense. They give Kobe the ball and he does what he wishes and everyone else cleans up after him. Even Jordan led teams were never like this. He's making AI look unselfish.

Enough with Kobe, gotta give him props but it was obvious last night that the dude cares about his individual accomplishements, glory or whatever more than his teamates.

I remember last game, VC was telling or pointing to Krstic and Marc Jackson to go ahead and post up their man when they wanted to pass the ball to him back. Thats what i love about him, he doesn't wanna have all the glory to himself but wants to share it with his teamates and bulid their confidence. Remember? he had 25 points with 2 minutes left in the 3rd and knew that he won't play the 4th but instead of padding his stats he looked for his teamates to get their share of points and get them to be part of the game.

And cpwafan, what exactly puts Kobe ahead of the rest of the NBA, his selifsh play for scoring 81 points and ignoring his teamtes for half dozen of Lakers games, is that what you call basketball? jeeze people get so blinded by stats and one-on-one play. You gotta appreciate guys like Carter, Wade and pierce more who cares for the team more than themselves.

Finally someone besides me gives Phil Jackson the credit he deserves.

He has one of the worst rosters in the NBA playing winning basketball.

And he's doing it with a strategy that in lesser hands could turn into an explosive mess.

Everyone gives that guy crap because he won all those rings with Jordan, but he's proven that he knows how to coach NBA players. Period.

Zilch, they'd have a better shot in the D-league... That doesn't mean it still isn't disturbing to watch. Especially knowing that this is the cast that Kobe set for himself. Do you actually think they'll have any success in the playoffs playing like this with this team?

Sure, the Nets were leading by 20+, so it didn't matter. What if they were down by 18?
Regardless, it's easier to be unselfish and achieve team goals if you have a supporting cast you can trust to make shots. Compare the Nets minus Carter and Lakers minus Kobe.

No one is saying they appreciate Carter, Wade and Pierce less because of what Kobe did last night. Look at the Lakers roster. They have won some games they had no business winning. You make it sound like he was just padding his stats from the tip. The truth is that he single-handedly brought his team back from a big deficit, and turned it into a blowout win. How many players can do that with that supporting cast? And the truth is, everyone on that team wanted Kobe to get his record.
