Player Midseason Grades: Richard Jefferson
As the midway point of the season quickly approaches, we're going to start running a poll on how you feel each Nets player has been this year. There will be a few players posted each day until we get through them all.
Grading will be simple: much like in school it'll be on the A, B, C scale. Simple enough? First up:
Richard Jefferson
Stats (as of 1/24/06):
36 Games, 36 Starts, 38.4 MPG
18.4 PPG
7.3 RPG
3.8 APG
49.8% FG (31.9% from 3)

Leadership man that is all I have to say. Great year so far proved he can be Pippen for the Nets.

B+
Much more efficient that I thought he would. Struggled on D early in the season but has since picked it up. Has some injury problems but gave all out effort in every game. I would give him higher mark if the Nets have better records.

Re: Player Midseason Grades: Richard Jefferson
I gave Jefferson a 'B+' In my opinion he's been one of the most impressive players so far for us this season. His shot has drastically improved and he's easily settled into a role as the 2nd man on offense. He's still able to get his own shots wether being fouled or taking a jumpshot and he brings it every night. Just needs to be more consistent on the boards and work on his free throw shooting. I also feel he shouldn't take a shot on the perimiter unless he's absolutely compfortable with it, thats not his game.

Re: Player Midseason Grades: Richard Jefferson
Around an A for me. We all know that he could be averaging more points, but he's fine with that second scoring role. He could go off for thirty one night and have eighteen the next, but he has no problem allowing others to take the stage. He knows how to score in a variety of ways. He's got a great overall game. I'd like to see him average more points per game, but I think that'll improve as the season goes on.

Re: Player Midseason Grades: Richard Jefferson
an A- for RJ. Has been very efficient and is an exemplary team player. Will get an A if the rebounds are more consistent and has further range for his jump shots.

Re: Player Midseason Grades: Richard Jefferson
B+ from me...he's been doing pretty good, but not as good as he was last year before his injury. I think he still doesn't know exactly where his place is on this team.

I also gave him a B+
The things that he was expected to bring to the team:
Get out in the open court with JKidd. Check.
Play solid D on the other teams top perimeter player. Not as well as most assumed he would. Has taken it on the chin in a few games.
The things has has done that weren't asked:
Rebound. Still the team leader per game. Thou Kidd is gaining pretty quickly.
