OT! A.Davis to be release
Quote:
|
"The longer he stays away, however, the more his absence increases the possibility of Isiah Thomas trading or releasing Davis, who is in the last year of his contract. A Knicks official said yesterday that there continue to be whispers inside the organization that Davis will be released so he can sign with a contending team."

I wouldn't mind seeing him in a nets uniform

Re: OT! A.Davis to be release
Anyone still think he returns to Chicago after what happened recently?

Re: OT! A.Davis to be release
Interesting. I know he wanted to go back to the Bulls, but after that incident in Chicago I'm not too sure that would happen now.
Does he have anything left? If he can provide good post defense, some rebounding and hit the occasional open jumper in limited minutes he may be worth taking a shot. Especially if the Nets are resigned to not trading for someone.

Another Cliff Robinson type can't hurt, takes another 16 minutes.

I think he goes back with Bulls and becomes their starting Center

Has it been long enough? What is that new rule now about length of time before a player can re-sign with the team that traded him?

The Gary Payton rule?
He's a good leader on the Knicks, so he would seem to fit in with us.

Re: OT! A.Davis to be release
I have always liked Antonio Davis' game, leadership, intensity, etc.
However, doesn't he have one of the worst +/- ratings in the league? I was surprised by that, but numbers don't lie. Granted, he did get that +/- with the Knicks...
Dumpy what do you think? Can he help us?

Re: OT! A.Davis to be release
The rule is 20 days during the offseason, and 30 days during the season.

Re: OT! A.Davis to be release
If he is being released, I sure hope the Nets calls his agent.
Experience, leadership and a strong big guy - sure, why not...
The question is, how he and Carter are doing - as far as I recall, the two of them are just fine..?

Re: OT! A.Davis to be release
Why the misleading title?
The article was clearly just speculation.
I'd be shocked if he was released...
His contract could easily be moved to get something they need, which is damn near everything.

They already have Penny Hardaway for that.

Re: OT! A.Davis to be release
As an expiring contract SAR got the Blazers nothing last year.
The Raptors are rumored to have turned down Thomas' proposal of Rose and a 1st for Penny.
In a year with an even weaker crop of FA, not sure how much demand there will be on Penny or Davis.

Re: OT! A.Davis to be release
am I the only one who senses that if the Knick trade Antonio, it won't be one from a logical standpoint, but one like Ruben Patterson + Theo for Antonio?
Get more salary Isiah!
